Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (09/25/2010) See Mike’s comments regarding the titling process in Ohio (thanks Mike!). There’s been a variety of updates to this, including the lengthening of the fenders and hood.
“i have a 46 2a for sale, the tub, fenders and hood are all in like new condition with no rust what-so ever, entire body had been bed linered black. set up for small block ford, still has auto trans an t case, engine removed, will include either a 2.8 gm v6 or gm 454, either of which would need a different trans or a trans adapter. yes, a big block WILL fit in this jeep, the fenders. hood, and frame have been extended 4.5 inches, the frame has been strengthened and extended, has 1/2 ton truck springs, power steering, no title, in ohio the jeep only needs to be inspected to check if any parts have been stolen and a rebuild title will be given, has original vin tags on tub, hard top not included, also have a 1948 rolling chassis with a rusty frame id sell for much cheaper, needs some tlc, but a good start for a flat fender project. will sell with it for and extra $500, $300 if you buy it with the jeep. would trade for a stock willys cj 2a or 3a, 4×4 truck, hearse, deuce and a half, let me know what you have.”

Hard to tell just how bad the body is.

It doesn’t run at the moment, but looks solid.
“This is a 95% complete and original Willys CJ-2A. It is a perfect unmolested candidate for restoration to drive in a parade or to the beach this summer. It has always been stored indoors. The original L-134 Go Devil engine turns over freely with its own starter. I do not have time for this project and so I am choosing to sell it. I am including a spare Borg Warner T90 transmisison and Dana Spicer Model 18 transfer case for parts. Consider trade for wide front end farm tractor.”

New stock military tires, new gas tank, upholstery, starter, generator, electric fuel pump, regulator, carb & exhaust system. Brakes have been converted to 11″ truck w/power assist. Electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volt. Has full roll bar, gun racks,winch with dual controls, free wheeling hubs, 2 jerry cans, axe, shovel, dead man & high lift jack. This Jeep has been in my family for over 50 years”

(02/09/2011) “1947 Willys Jeep CJ-2A 4 cyl L engine. (Rebuilt) Good running condition. New Battery, New Shocks, New gas tank, New Carbuerator & fuel pump. New floor, front & rear. Windshield frame restored, painted & new glass. Paint partially restored to primer coat. Restoration in progress. All original body parts. Pictures on request. Make an offer!”
Update: **SOLD** Was $550 This jeep used to be red.
This has a tempest slat 4 cyl. It looks like someone did a nice job of installing the updated steering column as well. Here’s a built example of the same motor.
Here is a link to a Jalopy Journal thread about 4cyls. The Mercruiser 3.7 and the Ford 2.3s seemed to be a favorite for fun 4cyl installs.

Body 75% Rusted, frame rusty, steering ok. trany, transfercase, 1961 140hp. tempest slant 4 cylender motor with 4 barrel needing restored. interior rusted and bad, tires bad (but hold air), rims rusted. There is $800 of useful or restorible parts”
