Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The seller notes this “Just needs minor finish work”!?! At least the winch looks valuable. This was for sale back in April, 2009, though at that time it had no motor or tranny.

“1948 Willy’s CJ-2A project for sale with original title. $1,600.00 OBO. Custom 2x4x120 wall frame. 2”x120 DOM 6 point roll cage w/ UHMW roof. 1.5”120 DOM engine, winch protection and rock sliders. I still original hood and fenders. I also have a custom aluminum hood built to fit a Chevy 350 engine. The body and chassis comes with a 15 gallon fuel cell holly blue fuel pump, American auto wire harness, steering column, Toyota brake booster and 1 ton gm master cylinder, 2 RCI seat including covers, front leaf springs for a V8 application, 4” TJ coils for the rear and 18” bilstien shocks. A set of 39.5x15x15 TSL super swampers mounted on 12x10x15 rock crawler steel wheels 8on 6.5 Can be added for $700.00 ”

It sure looks like a project.
“CJ2A project. Body is very good condition for one this age. minor dings but needs a section under the tool box replaced. Has 15″ wheels on rolling frame but have 16″ on old tires for it. Very good grille, hood, windshield, fenders, and tailgate. Have an engine but it needs to be rebuilt. Frame has a transmission and transfer case already on it. No seats. Don’t have a title but have paper work for one after its rebuilt. Title was destroyed and the guy I got it from got all the paper work and went to WSP who told him it just needs to be inspected before a title can be issued. Other than seats have most everything needed to put it together. Radiator should be checked but is there. Might consider something interesting in trade. I like gas station items or could use landscaping and not just the labor. I have a pathway and retaining wall that need to be made.”

This hasn’t run in 10 years. How about that paint job! The rims looks unusual, too.

I think those are doors on the hood rather than a hood mod. The jeep looks good.
