Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s a stock CJ-2A that sold this afternoon.
“Nice original, unmolested 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep. This Jeep was owned by a local service station for many, many years, and spent much of its life stored inside. When the owner died, a co-worker and I purchased it and stored it in his garage. He began replacing some of the safety items like brakes and fuel tank, but lost his garage space to his wifes car. I bought him out, and had planned to finish the couple items but do not have time. The engine was running before the old rusty fuel tank was removed. It turns over with good compression, and has spark. The new fuel tank needs to be installed, and a new fuel line run. He also did some work to the brakes, but the lines are not finished (I think he replaced all the shoes and cylinders),. There is also some wiring that need to be replaced (cloth covering rotted)….”
This is only 2wd? Interesting ….
“2wd, 4 cylinder, new brakes and brake lines, new starter, new alternator, new cap, points, wires; new belts and hoses, has back seat.”

“230 Jeep Tornado 6cly,T90 trans with Warn OD,Warn elet. winch,roll bar cage, rebuilt 65 Vet cross flow radiator with remote filler yank needs to be installed . Have owned since 1965 time for new owner and some TLC. Runs OK”

Not a bad price given it runs.

Needs parking brake, and a little bit of TLC. Comes with attached Tow hitch.”
And, it runs on propane!

“1948 Willys jeep. Will run with a little work. Has a new flathead 4 cy motor that I put in several years ago and just never finished. Will turn over and try to fire just a timing issue I believe. (02/10/10) I love the old top. The rest looks a bit rough.
“I have owned this Willys for the last 38 year it has always been garaged. We have had many years of fun with our Willys Hunting, Fishing, and trail riding. The engine was updated to a 1965 chevy 327 2V. in the late 70’s. Saganaw steering box, 12 Volt electrical, heater, 60’s T-bird bucket seats, Winch, and a Custom towing rig attached to the Willys.”
