Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1946 Willys Jeep. Original paint and top. Engine, transmission, transfer case rebuilt. $3,500 OBO.”
This is a project, but based on the parts list, it sounds like it might be worth the price. The front clip looks like it is fiberglass. I would guess the truck tranny is either a sm420 or sm456. It’s difficult to see whether it would really only take a couple hours to make this run.
“48 cj2a, rebuilt 283, never started. Chevy truck 4 speed, rebuilt x-case, diff’s rebuilt W/11 in drums instead of 9. This jeep just needs finished. The front clip is almost worth what I’m asking. Realistically with a couple of hours you could be runnin. Wife said it’s gotta go. # is 630-6601, Price is negotiable. Thanx fer lookin.”

UPDATE: **SOLD ** Was $1500
This is a project and it is apart. The pics below show what it used to look like.
“Here is my 1948 Willys Jeep that I started as a porject some years ago and just didn’t finish. I put new wheel cylinders, master cyl, shocks, fuel pump, coil, plugs, ans did some body work. It ran very well when I disassmbled it. It needs wiring harness, gas tank and seat frames….almost ready to go for the right person.”

“Hunting season is here! Classic 1948 Willys CJ 2A “Civilian Jeep” Original 4 cyl 134 ci “Go Devil” engine and 3 Speed manual T-90 transmission. The engine, transmission, clutch, 4WD, transfer case, high/low range and lights are all in working condition. The body is extremely solid. The floor pans have been patched. It has the 6 volt electrical system, with an electric fuel pump. It has a little play in the steering and the typical fluid drips and leaks for a CJ2A of this vintage. Although it’s not perfect, it’s in much better shape than a lot of the older Jeeps that are available on the market. Come and take a look – you know you’ve always wanted one! Located in Duluth.”

(08/10/09) The jeep’s hard to see in this pic, but at first glance looks good.
“1948 Willys Jeep with a Chevy 283 V-8 with a Warn overdrive. Everything is 12 Volt and has a heater and comes with two original backseats. Original transmission, axles, and differentials. Extras include a bikini top, front push guard, spare gas tank and tire and the Jerry gas cans. Tires are in great shape and the body and tub has no rust. I really do not want to sell it, but I just do not use it anymore.”

Well, there’s nothing that indicates this is an MB. It looks more like a CJ-2A You gotta love this ‘matching’ trailer. But, the price is good.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
It’s got a new winch. The tires look good. It also has a big foot pedal. Do you need any more than that? I’m not sure why it has lights in a 2 pics and not in the other two pics.

“Must sell! 1946 Jeep Willys Flatfender with a Vortex 6 cyl. engine, autotrans, Canadian transfer case, Positraction, 8 ton Warren winch, Four wheel drive,and roll bar.
