UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5995.
Not much information about this other than it has a 5 speed. It appears to have either an MB or GPW body. Those are some really short seats! The VIN is #3547499.

“Up for sale is my 1948 Willys CJ2A, you might have seen it around town. This Jeep was rebuilt from the ground up in 2000 by the pryer owner. It will need an enigne do to a rod cap bolt that snaped all cased by the pryer owner who did not replace the rod cap bolts during the rebuild. (Always replace any engine bolt that requires a torque spec!) It is in stock form with a (chain driven) 134 L-head with only 3,000 miles on it…..”
It’s got the column shifter and a VIN of 30296 according to the seller. The body looks rough along the edges.
“46 jeep CJ-2a Willys. Early 1946 (SN:30296) with column shift. L head engine in running condition. Needs new Starter. Body in restorable condition. JeeTop aluminum top. Needs brakes. Transmission/transfer case in good condition. Would be an excellent jeep to restore.”
There’s been some body work that has obscured one of the two driver-side indents. It still has the column shifter. It’s sort of running.
“This is a 1945 Willys CJ2A with all the matching tags. It is serial number 11752 which means it was the 1752 CJ2A made in 1945 out of a total of 1824 for that year and it is the 1752 CJ ever built. This is a project but certainly can be put back into shape. There aren’t too many of these 1945 CJ’s left around. It has the 3 speed on the column which seems to work as it should. The head and valves were pulled by the previous owner because of a broken valve guide. He said that it ran fine before. It does turn over freely and seems to have good compression and no strange noises. I believe I have all the engine parts but you know how that goes, so please plan on something missing…..”
It appears to be a good price. I kinda wonder why it’s been bought and sold on craigslist so often.
“Nice old jeep! Runs great! goes through all speeds high and low range 12v converted.
tub in original patched up shape flat head 4 cyl brakes work great. It’s been on craigslist a few times. each owner has put a little more work into it. I don’t have a title or vin tag. excelent for parts with bill of sale. ”
It looks like it’s got some good upgrades. It’s likely priced a bit high.

It appears to have been restored. I see no obvious issues.
“1948 Willys CJ2 Jeep. New Complete Top and New Tires & Rims. New Clutch Plate, Pressure Plate and Throw Out Bearing, New Generator & Voltage Regulator. New Gas Tank. The Vehicle Looks Great and Run Great. Mileage 35,000 (Approx) She’s a Beauty.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500
A variety of good quality images of this jeep here. It appears to be a later model ’46.
“This is my 1946 Willy’s Jeep for sale in New Ulm Texas. It has a recent new engine replacement along with the radiator, fuel pump, brakes and gas tank. Cooling hoses and belts are also new. The generator and Battery are recently replaced. Tires are in great shape. The winch is not running but could be. There are some places with rust (see pics) but not significant. The mileage is not accurate as the odometer hasnt worked in years. The car basically hasnt been driven in 10 years until I had the above mentioned work performed over the last year. It runs like new now!”
No Motor, no windshield Glass.
“new paint, new top, rhino lined inside, clean engine bay, good tires.Needs a windshield and a motor. The jeep has lots of parts for a four cylinder.the jeep does have the t-90 trans with the dana 18/20 transfer case and i have a turbo 350 with a 203 transfer case to go with it incase somebody wanted to small block it.”
Jim zipped this ebay listing my direction, pondering whether this bikini-clad female fits the rough and tough jeep. I replied to him, suggesting that the picture might have been taken with the intent to land the ‘model’ on the GIRLS OF EBAY PAGE … and sure enough, she’s there. I have no idea how that automated search works functionality works …. Maybe I should get into motorbikes 🙂
