About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“I have a 1946 ? Willys Jeep I think it has the original engine 4 cyl. Engine runs doesn’t smoke. I drove it from front of house to rear, several years back. That’s as far as I have drove it. Needs restoring.”
The Jeep is street legal in Montana, and is registered and licensed as a 1948 with a clear title. Tires stick out of the front fenders , Bushwacker rear fenders with slight tire stick out, no signal lights, legal head lights and tail lights, legal emergency brake, horn, single windshield wiper and washer, no front or rear bumper. To be registered in another state it just depends on that particular state’s laws. In Montana it’s considered a street rod and doesn’t have to have bumpers or fenders. The body is hand made and is eight inches longer at door opening than stock. No tail gate (solid) and the fender wells are flush with the top of the body. Most of the body panels have been riveted together, (not pop rivets!) Body has been sprayed with bed liner on the inside, rocker guard on the outside. Fiberglass hood.
Looks like a stock flat fender body at first look. Most people don’t notice the difference until you point it out as it’s all in proportion. It’s 5 ¼ inches wider at cowl, 3 ½ inches wider in rear. Sides are 2 inches taller. Body is all hand built except for the Jeep cowl. Grille is made from 2 MB grilles so that is proper width with two extra bars. Body and frame are painted with Military OD field drab. The only part that is original Jeep is the cowl that is made up from two cowls, and the grille. Rear bumper has receiver hitch. Side mirrors and mount, center rear view mirror. MB military jeep side handles. Continue reading →
“1946 Willys Jeep with many upgraded parts, not the least of which is a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 (in a 2200lb vehicle). Is it a highway speedster? No. Can you drive it around town and love life knowing you are driving the coolest little rig around… Yes!
Features:
Chevy 350
T14 3 Speed Transmission
M18 Transfer Case
D44 Rear Axle
D27 Front Axle
4.88 Gears
Upgraded 10″ Drum Brakes all the way around.
31″ off road tires
Working brake lights and turn signals (note that it did not come with these in 1946).
Full height seats with harnesses.
About 4.5 years left on the 5 year collector plates. Not sure if these are transferable.
I’m only selling because I have one too many projects and need the precious garage space. What it needs…
It has a slight oil pan leak. Likely needs a new gasket. No oil on the top part of the motor.
Body is in great shape for a 70 year old vehicle. A little elbow grease and a spray painter would make this thing cherry.”
“I have a 1949 Willy Jeep all Org. The jeep runs and drives great has 4 cylinder with 3 speed. It was 6v but changed to 12v. The bad on this jeep is floors was rusted out but been fixed has no gas tank but I have been running it off a gas jug for over a year, runs great off it, also No Breaks. Would like to sale due to my other projects might trade depending on what you have. Text thru week or call on weekends due to work Thanks”
This has the early windshield, but no column shift.
“I have a 1946 cj2a for sale that is serial number 15192. All three tags are 15192. The tool box floor has been rusted out and patched, the hat channels are rusted out. The side steps are rusted. The frame seems to be okay except in the front where the crossover tube meets the frame it has a crack. The tub has the tool indents on the drivers side. It has one of the three data tags on the dash. You can see where the other two were. It does have two good seats. The windshield frame seems to be early with the square washers and in good shape. The transmission is a side shifter converted to tower shift. The engine seems to be a transitional cj2a engine. It does run and drive, engine in good shape. Did a compression check and all four cylinders were right at 120. I have installed a new fuel pump, points, condenser, rotor and plugs. No brakes. I drive it about every day. No title. Asking $2500 / OBO for it.”
“1946 willys jeep, newer f-head engine, complete but not running, has some body rust. rear PTO winch, new tires, starter, seat cushions, water pump, gas tank. Have title.”
