UPDATE: Price bumped to $11,000
(08/04/2015) “First civilian jeep offered. 1946 that has been upgraded with brakes, wiring harness, clutch, steering and more. Owned for twenty five years, all mechanical and electrical systems reworked.
THIS IS AN UPDATE. After re-evaluating based on condition, I have increased the asking price.Underneath inspection indicated that the rust that was present when I bought it is not materially different; the previous owner treated it with some magic potion that stopped it. The rust underneath can be repaired without replacing the tub. Fenders, bed, and sides excellent shape.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
Runs and drives.
“Runs and drives. Gas tank needs to be cleaned or replaced. Rust on underside.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
(01/13/2015) It’s a project.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ-2A restoration project. This Jeep appears to be fairly complete, but it needs a total ground-up restoration. It hasn’t been run since the 80’s. I have been told it was a running vehicle when it was parked, but I have made no effort to test this theory as I’m sure it will need work just to get it to turn over. You should plan to trailer it home. The front fenders and grill are included, they are just not shown in the photos. Jeep has been cleaned up a tad since the pics were taken but still needs more work. Does not appear to have any noticeable rust issues, but it does appear that the front frame horn on the passenger side has been previously repaired. It has been in Arizona since at least 1969 and has a clean Arizona title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4300.
(08/25/2015) No obvious rust.
“1948 CJ2A runs good, everything works, previous owner had new radiator put in and painted it, good battery, gas tank had leak-repaired, new sending unit in tank and gas gauge, front axle seals replaced, good tires, winch with remote never used it, holds road good for a ole jeep. Just setting in shop don’t drive it anymore.”
This has an replacement body. Looks like a nice rig.
“This is a great Jeep 4×4. You will not find many in this condition. If any! It has been completely gone threw. Just recently did entire new brake system, hoses, master cylinders, everything. Has been converted to 12V with battery disconnect. Electric fan for those parade days, etc. Heater, they were not standard in ’46. New tires, new top, has roll bar, trailer hitch. everything works. This is the first year the commercial model was available to the public after the war. No rust anywhere and everything has been undercoated so it never will. Showing on speedometer and title has 21350 miles. Has a couple small spots on paint but nothing big.Does have the doors just have them off.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3800.
(08/16/2015) Title indicates it is a 1942 MB, but I don’t see an MB here.

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $2750.
(07/21/2015) Lots of updates. It seems to have an odd paint job. I wish there was a closeup pic.
“’48 Willys Jeep CJ2a, Yes it’s a real Jeep, I built it!! Orig body in good shape, orig frame, some repair to front. ’74 CJ-5 Dana 30 / 44 with 4.27 gears, was told rear is a posi. Late ’80s Chevy 305 V8, ’55 SM420 trans, worn second gear synchro. ’68 Scout Dana 20 xfer case, appears to have factory twin stick, i.e. can shift into 2wd low range. Hanging brake pedal with a ’74 CJ5 dual port master cylinder. Was a daily driver through 2001, largely sat since. Started and drove it a bit a year ago. Comes with a ’79 Dana 30 narrow track CJ-7 axle with disc brakes, so you have all the parts needed for a front disc conversion; from the looks I’d get new rotors and calipers, use these for cores. Has aftermarket rear folding seat, and of course the Besttop in pics.
what it needs:
New drivers seat (have a premium racing seat brand new!)
new gas tank (have a new one in the box with new sending unit and gasket) The one in it is JC Whitney, had mis-aligned sending unit holes.
New fuel line, has a rubber line that’s OK, but exits frame real close to the exhaust.
New battery
Of course, replace brake fluid, oil etc etc.
Jeep is in Winnemucca. I can bring it to Reno, but not ’til after Burningman. Yes, this Willy’s is an old school Burner, ’96 thru ’99! (Hence the hand print paint job). Even has an original “Nevadans for Burningman” sticker!
Got a beat up Cherokee for a new project; has room for the 90 lb dog and camping gear!”
It doesn’t run.
“For sale is a 1948 Jeep Willys CJ-2A. Good candidate for restoration, body is in decent shape needs driver and passenger floor work. Very complete minus top, motor is unknown condition doesn’t run. This is a project I’m never going to get to, as much as I want to. Looking to sell but possible trades for four wheeler another jeep or a snap on toolbox. Thanks.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
“Up for sale is a 1946 willy’s jeep CJ2A. It was completely restored in the 80’s and has only been driven about 6000 miles since. It’s not perfect but it’s in really nice shape. It does need brake work but for a serious buyer I will get that fixed. We have owned this jeep for the past 25 years. It comes with another parts jeep. It has carpet interior and a few other aftermarket goodies on it. When your on the road you get lots of salutes. My price is firm and I’m not interested in trades. Only serious inquiries only please”
