Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. New front bumper, springs, headlights, turn signals, brakes, brake lines, master cylinder, carb, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel gauge, exhaust, wheel bearings, shocks, marine radio and speakers. Converted to 12 volt including new alternator, new ignition and wiring. Steering box rebuilt. Battleship grey with triple grey camo.”

“The CJ2A was the very first civilian Jeep sold after World War II. This Jeep went through a three-year frame-off total restoration. Anything that wasn’t original was removed. My goal was to return it to what it looked like when it rolled off the showroom floor. I have owned it for 19 years.
The vehicle was completely dismantled. Original frame was sandblasted, primed and painted. Much of the original body was beyond repair, so those portions were replaced with correct reproductions purchased from a Jeep specialist in California. Original grill, headlights, turn signals, chrome headlight trim, bumper & tailgate were retained. The transmission and transfer case are original. The body was completely sanded, primed, and painted. It has NO bondo / body filler. The original paint color (Luzon Red) was found under the dashboard, and the Jeep was returned to that color with original color wheels. Continue reading

“Here is a nice and mostly original example of the first year of the “CJ” (Civilian Jeep) produced in 1946. This one is in very restorable condition with the typical rust in the floor-pans that is easily repaired or it can be left “As Is”and used as a daily driver or for outdoor adventures. It’s original Flathead Engine runs and drives well, the brakes have been professionally replaced and the seats have also been recovered in heavy canvas that looks like the original. I originally intended to restore the Jeep when I bought it a few years ago but I just can’t seem to find time to get to it…….so I’m going to let it go. I have a new exhaust system and a new carburetor that will be included with the sale, the winch is not going to be included. One thing that I should add is that the “Half Top” on this Jeep sets it apart from the others that were built in ’46. This one is a Willys Factory Half Top, they are pretty unique and also somewhat rare, here is a link to an article that explains what that means”
