Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Listed as a CJ-2B, this is clearly a CJ-3A.
“1951 willys jeep cj-2b for sale. Runs good. Tag up to date. Asking 3000 but price is flexible.”

Listed as a CJ-3B, this jeep has a CJ-3B VIN plate. I’m not clear what else is part of the original CJ-3B.
“Up for sale is my CJ3B Jeep. 10k in new parts on her. It’s a V6 3 Speed 4×4. New Tires, New Top, has a brand new bikini top to go with it. Runs excellent. Motor was rebuilt a while ago, along with a transmission rebuild and transfer case rebuild. Rhino Liner in the interior and exterior, very clean. Has explosion-proof gas tank, brand new seats, removable rear seat. Center console is weather proof and lockable and has a radio in it. Starts easy, runs great. My loss is your gain. 9800 miles showing on the odometer, not sure if it is true or not.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was auctioned.
“This is a jeep that was reconstructed from different jeeps according to the previous owner. This Jeep comes with a Bill Of Sale Only. The Jeep cranks over but needs timing. It runs and drives, but not ready for the road.
“1949 Jeep CJ3A in stock conformation, including 6V electricals, other than a shop-built diamond-plate fuel tank in the back. I do not have the windshield frame.
New carburetor, new fuel pump. Carb accelerator pump is clogged from sitting since last year. I’m soaking it now.
Lock-out front hubs, good brakes, tires hold air. The towbar needs a new coupler welded on; the safety latch is broken on the present coupler.
Not street-legal but perfectly fine for a deer lease.
$1,500 OBO, clean title in my name. No trades, no payments, no response to inquiries without a contact phone number included.”

“I have a cj3a for parts vehicle or restoration. Body is rusted out. I don’t know about frame. Has axles, transfer case, and transmission. Also has a Chevy 283. I think trans is original with adapter plate. Engine may be locked up, not sure. Not sure of condition of mechanical parts. No title. Price is firm. No trades.”
