(05/09/2014) No title and does not run. Has rust.
I have a 1951 Willys Jeep CJ3A. It’s a nice original old Jeep, no 350 engine in there. The old Super Sonic flathead is still in there though its seen better days. The body is rusty but if you like patina it’s ready to go. If shiny paint is your thing it would probably be more cost effective to replace the tub. The frame and running gear look good though. The ol CJ rolls, steers and all 4 tires hold air. That’s the extent of its mobility. It hasn’t run since the ’80s. There’s no title. I bought it not too long ago on an impulse and now I’m thinkin “what was I thinkin!?” I would consider a trade for a nice vintage truck – 60’s or older“
The CJ-3A in the top photo was listed on eWillys back on August 30th, 2012. It looked pretty sound to me, but according to buyer and restorer Scott Mills, a mountain of bondo was underneath the paint. Beautiful work Scott!
He writes, “I found this 49cj3a on your site 2 years ago- after sanding and a little blasting I found that someone used what seemed like 10lbs of body filler and rivets! As many of my purchases go, buyers remorse plagued me for months! Well, I replaced panels and spent hours hammering out the tub. The only splurge was a new hood and stock rims, I managed to save most everything else. My wife has a fashion blog here in Houston and used my Cj3a in this recent post:
Here is the Jeep before I cut out 50% of the tub, it looked great in these photos, little did I know…”
ANOTHER POST RESTORATION PIC (SEE MORE RESTORATION PICS HERE):
Listed as a 1949 CJ2, this may be a 1949 CJ-3A.
“1949 Willys Jeep CJ2. Awesome, new ground up restoration. Meticulously detailed. 470 miles. Original Hurricane 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. ALL parts finished with super durable powder coat. Ready for new assignment.”
No battery box, so this must be a replacement body.
“Willys Jeep runs good. Completely refurbished, engine idles very well and mechanically sound. Has a working winch. Military tread tires like new with a spare. No title for this jeep. Great jeep for hunting and for a ranch. Asking $5,200.00 cash only. Post will be deleted when jeep is sold.”

UPDATE: **Status unknown** Was on eBay (see comments).
Looks lie a good rig. Seller lots all information in a house fire. I’m wondering if he lost the title, too.
“this rig was recreated by a father and son shop in Oaklahoma and then purchased by me. Had house fire and lost all receipts and info but can provide as much info as I can. everything has been rebuilt and gone through including the wiring as the pics will speak for themselves and the unit only has 4500miles since I bought it. there is a 9inch ford in the rear, ramsey winch, alum diamond tool box, beefed suspension, 33×12.50×15 tires on custom wheels and frt disc brakes. the rear main leak is common as it has a rope seal and is available from Napa, this condition probably due to not very much use. I have asked my friend in Montana to list this for me as I have it stored near him 75miles south of missoula mt. Payment will be $500 in his paypal account and the balance by check or funds transfered to an escrow account at my bank. When the check clears both banks or cash clears then unit can be picked up and delivery is possible in a enclosed trailer for a fee. Thanks for viewing my posting.”
