Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Nothing says I love you like an “Old Willys”. 1947 CJ2A, 1971 – 350 Chevy motor, Jeep running gear is 3 speed transmission with overdrive and high/low range in the transfer case. Black, mustang high back bucket seats, tilt wheel, power steering, great heater, windshield wipers, roll cage, quality top in great condition, almost new 10.50×31.50 radials on slotted mags, dual shocks on front, light bar and more. Runs and drives great, everything works except a couple of gauges. ”
The seller calls this Bone Stock in the title of the ad. It’s not ‘bone stock’, but it might be worth a look.

“I have an upgraded/restored Willys CJ3A. Make no mistake, this is setup to be a 4 x 4 monster-mudder & street rod, not a mellow collector’s vehicle. It has a very strong Chev 350 w/headers and almost brand new dual Flowmasters (a little loud). Edelbrock 4 barrel (no high rise manifold). Alluminum cross flow radiator with electric fan & transmission cooler. TH400 auto trans w/B&M shifter. Has twin shifter Dana 20 transfer case. Has 4 inch spring lift and 2 inch body lift with quality rubber mounts. It has almost brand new Corbeau front bucket seats with matching rear bench. Full cage roll bar (padded). Saginaw steering (manual–really tight–NO slop or play) with tilt steering wheel and collum ignition switch. 11 inch drum brakes with aftermarket master cylender on firewall (hanging pedal). All gauges, switches, lights, turn signels, emergency flashers, wipers and heater ALL work great. Duamatic front hubs. Both front & rear lockers. 33 x 12.50 R15LT tires (90% tread left).
There is NO cancer rot anywhere. A little patch of bedliner is peeling under back seat with just a little surface rust. The diamond plate accents are mainly for looks (just makes side steps more usable–they’re still intact under plating). Clear Wa. title. Tabs good for next 11 months.
Now, the issues (not very many): needs coolant saver and tubing installed. Only has bikini top currently. Needs dust cover for transmission bellhousing. That’s pretty much it.”

“I have a 1953 willys jeep cj3a for sale or trade. Runs awesome, drives awesome. Really fun jeep to run around in. Flat black, tires are great, chrome rims, has f-head motor. Would be a fun toy for the coming weekend. Willing to trade, atvs, pickup, good car, trailers, tools, let me know what you got.”

What’s covering the rear wheel wells?
“I never got stuck….. This baby has the famous 4 wheel drive that was used in WW2….including High and Low Range. The Jeep is updated to a “Dauntless V6” engine that was totally rebuilt and has less than 20 hours….it purrs. I also just replaced the transmission and it syncs up beautifully…. Seats are in great shape and your wife will love them. This is just the vehicle you need in the woods or to just bum around town. Yes it is “street legal.” Only reason I am selling is that my wife has arthritis and has a difficult time getting in….she wants one of those low slung UTVs. I have more than $7000 in the baby….but she has to go. ”

It’s rough, but it does include a Navy tag. The tag looks like it could be original to the jeep.
“This Auction is For a 1951 Willys CJ-5 Jeep. It is complete with a 4 cyl. and a manual transmission. It is a 4X4 and also has a PTO or extra gear box and shifter. This Jeep is a great project and ran when parked, it has been sitting for a a couple years now so may take a little work to get it going again. There are not many of these old jeeps left now days. This one has some rust but nothing that cant be fixed. It still has the Info Plate on the dash showing it was registered to the US Navy in California. The Jeep has a hood scoop or breather on the top of the hood and I believe it is for a snorkel, which was used for driving off road in wet areas or crossing rivers, ect… The jeep looks rough in the pictures but will clean up nice. I will take some better pics of it and add them to the auction in the next day or two. The Jeep has a clear title and to my knowledge has never been wrecked at all. High bidder is to pay the shipping costs, but I will assist with setting up shipping or may even be able to transport the vehicle (we have several tow trucks and trailers) for costs, depending on the timing. I reserve the right to end this auction early if and acceptable offer is given as it is for sale locally also. It wont last long so if you want it now is the time. If you have any questions or picture requests you can email them to me and I will respond.”
