Seller mentions an overdrive, so there might be value here.

“Frame solid. Body has slight rust but not bad at all. The “Hurricane” 4 cylinder engine is sitting in the back of the Jeep. Previous owner said it ran but said it had a coolant leak. The coolant leak was the head gasket. Has 4-speed with overdrive. Also has BFGoodrich 31″ tires with excellent tread on aftermarket 15″ wheels. Was going to drop the engine in and drive just like it is but moving situations forced me to sell. Has a CLEAN TITLE.”

Seller neglects to mention that this has a CJ-5 rear body.

“I’m selling or trading my jeep it’s a stick 4×4 4cylinder needs brakes but starts runs and drives just hard to stop comes with extra military tires”

“Up for sale is my 1961 Cj5. I bought this as a started project from a friend near Philly. It was an old plow Jeep he rescued. He had the motor rebuilt, and installed a new fiberglass tub on the original drivetrain. Windshield and hood is the original metal. The seats he had done in an awesome marine grade vinyl with the original springs being redone. A new exhaust was also on it.
Now what I did.
1. New paint and clear coat laid on her
2. Added factory style rubber matting front and back
3. Completely new fuel system from tank to carb
4. Rebuilt the factory gauges
5. Complete new wire harness from Walcks 4wd
6. Added 5 period correct tires and tubes
7. Installed an up to date heating /defrost system all concealed in the original areas by “Vintage Air ”
8. Tore engine down to install all new Felpro gaskets and painted it in a black and orange engine paint.

The “New” CJ-5 at SEMA

• CATEGORIES: CJ5, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: It appears this endeavor didn’t work out.

Merlin reported on a NEW CJ-5 that will go into production (approx 5,000 jeeps per year) soon. One question that many folks have asked is how the new jeep can meet the current safety specs for new cars. According to Merlin, the short answer is it can’t, but it doesn’t have to meet them. In 2014 the feds passed regulations that allow low production auto manufacturers to only have to meet the specs for 1967.

“With Sema going on I am excited to finally announce the return of an old favorite, the Cj5. Universal Motors Corp (makers of the Allied Jeep L head blocks) has the new Mopar licensed Cj5 on display in booth 32326 at Sema. These sport the current Jeep engine, and there will be a diesel option as well. Bodies and parts will be manufactured by UMC, not bought from current parts and panel manufacturers other than Jeep. A kit version will be available as well. Assembly is done in Detroit. More info and pics will be posted as I receive more. http://universalmotorscorp.com/
