“62 Willy Jeep frame and drive line. 231 Buick VA engine w/headers. Everything works including hydraulics . This is your answer to the 15,000$ ATV!!!!! There is no title because it’s an assembled vehicle. This is for off road/ATV use. Had to put a number in odometer section”

1953 CJ-3A/CJ-5 Phoenix, AZ **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, CJ5 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000.

The rear of the body looks to be a CJ-5.

“1953 Willys Jeep CJ3A. I think i am the third owner. I have owned it for 23 years or so. It has less than 500 miles on a frame off rebuild. Rebuilt running gear, suspension, steering, steering box and column, oversized brakes, drums and wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and new brake lines. Rodded original radiator, installed overflow tank. Rebuilt Harrison heater and rodded core. Installed 12 volt 3 wire alternator, totlal rewire of vehicle, rebuilt starter motor, converted all lights and guages to 12 volt, and installed fuse strip. Has roll cage, Lincoln electric bucket seats (but have originals, see photo) fold and tuck rear seat. Has full soft top and doors, bikini top and 5 new tires and wheels. Original scripted metal body, fenders and hood. No dents (to speak of). I did not repaint body, because my wife would not want it “scratched”. Has been garaged with all 3 owners. I have all receipts and many of the old parts that were replaced. Willys listed these as a “1/4 ton truck”.”

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $4500.

This is a project that looks nearly complete. It looks like a nice rig that won’t take much to finish. It includes a rebuilt rear PTO as well.

“I’ve been working on this old Jeep for over ten years, and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. But time has passed, and my priorities have changed. This Jeep has fresh paint, rebuilt axles and t-case, Warn Overdrive, and a Spicer PTO. It has a full floating rear Dana 44 axle, with an ARB Airlocker, ARB Onboard Air compressor, and a Dana 25 front axle with the original Powerlock limited slip differential. Continue reading

Early CJ-5 Question

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Rick pointed out to me that this 1958 CJ-5 has no battery box lid nor does it have the knockout piece on the passenger side of the hood. Is it possible this was special ordered without those items? Or did they sometimes use the battery box bodies and sometimes use the non battery box bodies? Nearly all the CJ-5s I’ve recorded have the battery box lids on the 58s.

“From high up in the mountains of central Colorado comes a very well preserved, 1964 CJ5 that is largely unmolested. The reason I say largely unmolested is that other than a carburetor change to aid the drivability at altitude, this jeep is all original from factory paint to the factory upholstery. The original Carter Carburetor is included, along with the air cleaner ducting should the buyer wish to return it to its stock configuration. Carter did offer a “High Altitude” kit for the “Hurricane 4″but it was rated rated at 4000 ft above sea level, but when you consider that this jeep lives at 8000 ft, and a ride into the high country may find it 13,000’+, you see the Carter solution is not viable. Re-jet you say? Carter used metering rods instead of jets, so that’s why it has the very popular Weber Progressive 2 bbl. conversion which allows re-jetting to accommodate the thin air.
