About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(09/27/2012) I kind of like this purpose built jeep.
“This is a 56 willys cj5 that was used to work on oil field pipelines. the old jeep has a heavy steel bed and a war surplus braden winch that works and is worth good money to someone restoring a military vehicle. tires are good. the engine runs perfect. i put a new master cylinder on it. i had planned to use it at the deer lease as a work rig but never got around to it. has brand new gas tank also that has not been installed. asking 1950.00 cash.”
“1955 Willys–Great running QUIET 4 cylinder gas saver smooth running, The Good- Engine runs great, transmission is tight- not sloppy, transfercase- hi and low work great, axles are solid with locking hubs , no rust on body, glass is good, wiper works, nice seats, has the rear tire holder that also holds 2 jerry cans,- Now for the bad- The heater hoses are not hooked up(I did not plan on using the heater unless I found a hard top) –, when in low range- it will climb almost anything, , has bikini top ”
“’57 Willys Jeep CJ5 with the original F34 Hurricane 4 cylinder. Runs great, but burns a little oil (naturally). 128k miles. This is a very solid, nearly original Jeep.”
This looks in good shape. This seller is also selling the M-38A1 above.
“Hello im selling my 1957 willys jeep it is in excellent condition. it looks completely restored. new seats. a 4 cylinder and a 3 speed transmission, and almost new tires im asking 3,200.”
This is not a Super Jeep, but does have the graphics package.
“Up for auction is a 1974 Jeep CJ5. It is powered by an AMC 304 V8 which we believe is the original engine which may make this Jeep a factory Renegade package. It is a three speed manual transmission we believe the axels to be Dana 44’s front and rear. According to our calculations the axle gearing is 4.27:1,
The Jeep runs and drives well and the 4×4 works well. It has manual lock out hubs, and has a manual choke so it starts and runs well when cold. The engine has been upgraded with an Edelbrock aluminum intake, fendewell exit headers than go to medium loudness mufflers, the Jeep sounds throaty but is not overly loud. The Jeep has been in Arizona its entire life, but does have dents and dings all over the body.
There is no rust but there are dents etc. I would call the Jeep a “five to ten footer” meaning that if you are 5 or 10 feet away it looks like a new Jeep, when you get up to it you notice the dents and dings but hey its almost 40 years old and these werent built to be show cars, but it is rust free. It has been repainted an industrial gloss white and has custom Super Jeep package graphics on the body tub.
The body tub is 1976 and was swapped on many years ago. The Jeep has brand new black low back vinyl bucket seats, new seat frames, and a new factory rear seat from Rugged Ridge. The Jeep has 4″ of total lift comprising of 2″ lift Rancho springs front and rear and 2″ lift Performance Accessories shackles. The tires are new 33×10.50×15 BFG KM2s and the wheels are vintage restored American Racing turbines that have been restored to brand new condition. The wheels and tires were installed in the spring of 2011 and have less than 200 miles on them.
The Jeep belonged to my brother in law who was killed in an accident at work, and he performed all of the work and restoration from approx 2009 to 2011, we got it in the spring of 2011. We have kept it in storage and drive it occaisionally when the weather is nice, but honestly have only put maybe 100 to 150 miles on it over the last year and half, mainly a Sunday cruise when the weather is nice etc. We have decided that it might be time to pass it on to someone else to enjoy, this Jeep turns every head that passes by, and it just needs a few minor details to be perfect in our opinion, but it is ready to enjoy as it is now. Clear Arizona title in hand, the Jeep is located in Avondale, AZ. ”
“This is a 71 cj-5 frame/drive trane with a jc whitney steel remanifactured 42 gpw body.engine is new complete rebuild, 30 over with mild cam.eldibrock valve covers and doug headers, has painless wire harness, new paint,This is a project that I can”t finish because of health reasons. It also has doors and best top that go with it.I have spent several thousand on it so far it will take verry little to finish it .It runs well .the transmission is in good condition but the clutch cable needs replaced it isn,t releasing properly.brakes work ..I also have a 4 barrel intake and carb to go with it .it currently has a new to barrel on it.your welcome to ask any questions ,vehicle is sold as is,must be towed.this will make a great vehicle for someone with verry little work left to be done.”
Steve spotted this photo of an Armoured CJ-5 used by Armoured Banking Services to transport cash. On July 26th, 1966, this jeep was used to ferry cash to the Veterans Administration. A couple of men decided to make a withdrawal from the two employees carrying the cash into VA building, knocking them down with a submachine guns. You can read the whole story in the article below the eBay photo.
