Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Given the serial number, it seems more likely to me this is an early ’46 based on this chart.

It ran many years ago.
“Complete 1940’s Ford GPW engine, current head on engine was a replacement that I installed many years ago. I would like to keep the generator unless its GPW specific.
I installed this in my ’47 CJ2A many years ago, then found out that it was a military engine. Figured it would be a better fit for someone looking to restore a GPW ”

“I’ve got 3 of them. Asking $200 for the lot.
#1 with block casting # 641087. It has been rebuilt, sometime pre-1975 as that’s when the shop closed. The serial #states it is a 3J motor though. Comes with carb, trans, tc, and whatever other accessories are attached. Serial # 3J-12582.
#2 with 641087 casting is this truck motor, which was kept indoors, said to have been rebuild and never used. Have not verified this. Still has paper stuffed inside the intake and exhaust ports. Serial # 2T-19742 I think. No trans/tc attached
#3 is 638632 block casting, serial # is J-87149. No trans/tc attached.”

Has a later model oil bracket (oval or hole type). Might be a 3A/M-38/or DJ-3a engine.
“This is from an old Willys Jeep. My father purchased it many years ago and said it was used as an instructional tool for an auto shop class. Supposedly all new and never run. Make offer.”
