(06/23/2020) Here’s a rare pairing. Somewhere I had an advertisement for Willys marine engines in a Florida newspaper from 1946, but I can’t find that ad at the moment.
“This unit has been in storage for a long time. The pistons are not stuck. Carburetor needs to be freed up and cleaned out. MB 564093 Marine Power Unit. 134 c.i.d.. This is a non running military engine that has been in storage. I see no cracks or breaks in the castings. I separated the engine and gear box so they could be mounted on my engine stands. After removing the oil pan and cylinder head and checking it out, I loosely assembled it just to keep things all together. The generator is a 6 volt, 40 amp. and the starter motor & bendix look good.
The “marine drive” gear box that was mounted on the engine has a multiple disc wet clutch with “knuckle in” engagement and by moving the lever in the other direction knuckles the clutch out, goes into neutral and will begin to apply a band brake as lever movement continues. Box is full of oil and looks good. The universal coupling behind the box is very heavy duty. The engine flywheel is drilled and tapped for a vehicle clutch assembly, but is still yet a clutch virgin. Starter gear shows very, very little wear. I will be happy to open things back up (engine and gear box) with a interested person present.”

“Have an early Willy’s Go Devil engine which turns freely, head bolts all turn nicely, no visible cracks but I have not had it scanned. Wilson Foundry W4 mold, cast number 838632. Serial number behind oil filter was grown down or never there, believe that is because the engine was overhauled at some point in its life. Not sure on that. It came as a package when I purchased my 46 CJ2A and I don’t need it. Toss in 50 bucks and you can have the stand. Hope the pictures add value. If the post is up, it is available. Cash only, pick up only.”

“For sale 1952 Jeep Willys Engine, Manual transmission and two stick transfer case. Engine was running, it smoked a little bit, transmission and transfer was working fine. “Original Willys Flat head pulled from 48′ willys pickup. Engine has not been started in several years. Engine only.

Seller notes that one cylinder might be low on compression.
“Selling a circa 1949 Willys Jeep L134 engine. Serial number on block looks like 3J31507. This came out of a 1949 CJ-3A so has the proper front plate with the mounting flange bent forward on the drivers side (to accommodate the fuel pump). Could be used in other models by swapping out the front plate (or making an adapter). It was a runner, but my recollection on the history was that one of the cylinders was low on compression and a fresher engine was swapped in it’s place. So expect that this engine needs a rebuild. But is NOT stuck, spins free.
I swapped a lot of the components over at the time to that fresher jeep engine so this is missing some of the external components such as the starter, generator, distributor, etc. I stored this engine inside, so was not sitting outside in the elements; it’s NOT rusty and crusty… It’s a great core to start a restoration with. Please study the photos as they form a part of the description. Stand not included, just the engine. Engine is located in Andover, NH.”

Listed as a 1947, the oil filter holder is a CJ-3A or later, so this may be a later engine.
“1947 Cj2A motor, frozen from moisture getting it is, I have been soaking the cylinders in penetrating oil. Still has oil in the block. Doesn’t include the starter or generator.”

“I’m selling a complete engine, transmission and transfer case from my 1957 Willys Jeep. I have no idea the condition of any of it. Trans and T-case seem to shift fine and I briefly tried to turn the engine over by the crank with no luck. Lots of good parts, oil bath air cleaner assy, distributor, valve cover, oil pan, starter, exhaust manifold, etc….
Make me an offer and come pick it up. I can help load or possibly deliver if u pay asking price. $200”
