Posters

UPDATE: this is a follow up to my March 1st post (you’ll note there are some comments from some readers from that day).

I’m ready to order posters. The original was almost 28″ tall by 22″ wide. I’ve decided to make the final version exactly 28″x22″ rather than my initial 18×24 size. The printing is being done by the same folks who printed all our Alaska Or Rust stuff. They do good work. I’ve already received a  18×24 proof and it looks great.

The per poster cost means I would need to charge $20 for each poster. One poster would be $20 plus $5 shipping. Two or more posters means free shipping in the continental US. How does that pricing sound? I plan to order 100 posters, so the supply will be limited. I will be selling them online and in person as I travel around in May and at the Willys Reunion in May.

Tim’s Father-In-Law Edward Gentile in Cuba

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Tim shared this photo.

“I just saw this picture for the first time last night.  We were at my father-in-law’s house, Edward Gentile, from RI,  looking through his old Marine photo album from 1950-54.  This picture is him driving on the Marine Base in Cuba checking the outside perimeter in 1951.  It looks to be a WWII Jeep.  He turns 88 Easter Day.

Sad to say, and hard to believe, but we are now at a point in history where we have not only lost most of our WWII veterans, but we are now even losing many of our Korean War vets. Both my dad and my step-father served during this time and neither is with us any longer.”

1961 Brochure Jeeps Vs. Scouts

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: The 4-page brochure doesn’t include a DJ-5 or 6, because they didn’t arrive until 1965 (thanks Colin). This may have been produced in March of 1961. International Harvester released their own 40+-page review of the Scout vs. the Jeep a month later. Coincidence?

I scooped this brochure off of eBay. Not the back page the brochure shows the “World’s Most Convertible Vehicles”, yet one of the two DJ-3As pictured has a top. Instead, why not include a DJ-5 or 6?
