2015 PNW Monster Jam Tacoma Dome Racers
Just one post this morning. Ann was sitting in bed relaxing yesterday afternoon when she positioned her knee just right … or just wrong would be more accurate. It caused her knee cap to shift sideways. It happens once a year or so. She had to take a muscle relaxer to deal with the pain, so I spent last night taking care of her.
On the plus side, Marty Tilford and other racers from the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association had a good time at the Tacoma Dome this past weekend competing in a series of barrel races. They lined up all their jeeps and took a photo for us. Yep, I am sure it was just for us!
More Pics from Charles
Most of these are WWII pics, though there is a Tour De France (or similar bike race) photo in the mix.
John Trades for a Few more FCs
John Escobar bought a few FCs last month. He recently acquired a few more through a trade. He writes, “I got the Bug! Just traded a Snowmobile I had for three fc’s and flatfender jeep ! he collection goes on! The one fc 170 is real nice and originally from Washington State. Was used n the area as a water truck. (government owned ) Parts will be for sale this spring. Can’t wait to get started on them. Spring can’t come fast enough!”
3 FCs and a truck for this snowmobile. Looks like a good trade to me!

Here are a few of the photos:
Old Wind-up Toy Jeep on ebay
The winding mechanism doesn’t work, but still a neat piece.
“Very old wind-up Jeep Willis – old Czechoslovak tin toy. It must be WWII manufacture due to the fact that comunism has come to CZK after war…or it was brought here from abroad but it must be decades ago. The wind-up mechanism not working – cracked spring.
Material : tin
Colour : turquoise
Dimensions: 6,5″l x 3,5″w x 2,5″h
Weight : 200g
Shipping via airmail with insurance ( lost and damage )”
Free Ballgame in Wenatchee w/ Your Jeep
A February 1956 article in Willys News told the story of a special promotion in Wenatchee, Washington. Drivers who brought their jeeps could get into the local baseball game for free.
Photo of Bantam BRC-60 & 37mm Gun on eBay
Great press photo.
“1942- Soldiers in a Bantam BRC-40 Jeep towing a 37mm anti-aircraft gun go airborne as they top a hill at high speed.”
Early Photo of Slat Grille(s) on eBay
Marc pointed out that these soldiers are wearing British style helmets. It also looks like one of the jeeps doesn’t have a glove box, indicating it is possibly a slat grille. I did a couple searches, but couldn’t locate the Grand Hotel Du Pacifique.
“WWII U.S. ARMY PHOTO OF MB GPW JEEPS WITH 37MM GUN AND 1 1/2 TON CHEVY 4X4 TRUCK. This is a (U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS) photo copy made from the original negative at the National Archives 25 years ago. This is a nice sharp 8″ x 10″ in excellent condition.”
