Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This has an inline 6 that runs. He just can’t get it into gear.
“What i have here is a 1942 ford gpw this was produced because at the time willys could not keep up with production for the united states military. It has factory lockers and i believe 4.88 gears also has the stock 3 speed and stock twin stick transfer case it has a flat head straight 6 it runs and was driving but when i towed it home with the tow bar it doesnt seem to wanna go into gear i dont know if im doing something wrong or what but it WAS driving will start and run for you but the points need to be set correctly to run perfectly here are some pictures”

“1943 Jeep MB Ford; rebuilt engine before I got it; Saganaw steering; 11″ brakes; T90 transmission; new wheels; new tires; new top; new wiring; winch; new fuel pump; new carb; new military seats front; fuel tank boiled and glassed; fuel filter and cutoff; electric wipers; tow bar; front tow hitch; jack mount; ax and shovel with mounts; 12 volt conversion/new battery; CB radio; roll bar; two gas can mounts; hubs; military auto manuals; all receipts. Both of these Jeeps appear in good condition. It looks like the GPW (the jeep pictures at bottom) comes with the some stainless.

(12/23/2009) The body has been raised to fit an aftermarket gas tank.
“Up for your consideration is a 1943 WW II US military Jeep with a 1/4 ton Bantam trailer the Jeep is fairly complete it was running and was in the process of being restored but due to a move and other reasons that is no longer an option. The engine is all original except the carb which was being replaced by an aftermarket one as I could not find a correct one. It has a new ignition switch which will need to be installed as well as that was also being done but halted. It has the battle rims and the data plates and blackout lights. The Jeep sits on lift blocks to clear an aftermarket gas tank and provide a little more clearance the headlights are from a CJ 2 but the grille was not cut or altered to allow them to fit making for an easy to convert back fix.
The trailer has been modified and has a drop gate and some rust in the front also the hitch and tongue has been extended and a ball hitch added and the pintle hitch was removed at some depot at some point in time, I looked for a long time and was quite happy to eventually find an original WW II trailer to go with this project. The tail lights are not original neither is the steering wheel or roll bar or seats.The body or tub is in good condition with no rust or major work needed to bring it back to stock. IIRC this has 20K miles on it I bought it from a WW II veteran and was going to restore with my dad who was also a WW II veteran having served in the Pacific theater he learned to fully appreciate these and what they could do ….”

“1944 Ford Gov. Personnel Carrier Willys body style; Motor is 232 or 237 cubic inch Buick V-6 (motor was rebuilt before installed); Transmission is standard 4 speed with granny low; Odom. is true reading 12164 (that is what it is showing); Ford 9 inch rear end; After-market power steering; Original heater; No A/C; No back seat; 5 inch spring over lift-will take 35 inch tires; Roll bar not factory; also have compass; Soft top aftermarket (needs repaired); Red in color with the original paint of O.D. Green under hood; Good solid Jeep, two small rust spots. 4 wheel drive works good; Original front axel”

“Running WWII Jeep with upgrades, 1982 Buick V-6 , T-90 Three speed Trans , Rebuilt T-18 Transfer, Rebuilt Waren Overdrive,5 New Firestone NDCC tires & tubes Repo Seat Frames front & Rear Repo Seat cusions,All new Electrical, guages over 4000.00 in Repo and New up grade parts have them. Bjust ran out of energy to put them in . Jeep drives and runs with out them it is 4X4 . Was Registerd in Az in 2008 before I started to rebuild it . I have pink and papers for it. will trade for resonable offers , 1920-1971 Car or Truck nothing I have to put money into or do majopr repairs. If your Tags out of date Ok as long as it’s not hundreds of dollars out of date. Gold , Couple Colt Sp1s, Cash .
