About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(06/29/2010) “1942 ford GPW chevy 305 headers with almost new exhaust 3spd very low geared 538’s I believe it’s the stock running gear runs and drives great , stearing and breaks have been upgraded. Someone has redone the floor and did it very heavy duty.body has some dings and bondo but looks good and would be a nice jeep to restore or just have fun with the way it is now”
“Hard to find “Ford” jeep, not a “Willy’s”.Frame off restoration in 1984. 1944 Ford GPW. Frame serial # GPW 216175. 4 cylinder 12 volt “Go-devil” engine. 3 speed tranny. Twin stick transfer case. It has 1,200 miles on since 2003 and 47,680 over all. Some from Motorhome towed miles . It has Rancho springs, yellow ‘Optima’ gel battery… Radiator , water pump, crank pulley, motor mounts and belts done over the summer . Cadillac tilt wheel and steering. Jaguar electric wipers. Roll bar, fog lights, back up light, seat belts. Custom front bumper with tow bar, and rear bumper with receiver hitch and storage. Les Swawb tires with US slot mags. Heater with hi/lo fan motor. Have aluminum hard top for it also. money is tight for everybody–make an offer*”
It isn’t a perfect restoration, but looks nice for the price.
“1942 SCRIP FORD CALLED SCRIP FORD BECAUSE FORD IS WRITTEN OUT ON THE BACK OF IT.FORD MADE JEEPS FOR THE WAR EFFORD TO THE SPECS OF WILLYS. THEY PUT THEIR NAME ON THEM AS DID WILLYS UNTILL THE ARMY DECIDED IT DID NOT WANT ANY COMMERICAL LETTERING ON THEM, AT THAT TIME THEY PROHIBED COMPANIES FROM DOING THIS. FORD HAD MADE ABOUT 17000 UP UNTILL THEN. I HAVE REWIRED THE JEEP CHANGED IT OVER TO 12 VOLTS,IT HAS A SOLEX CARB, HAS AN ELECTRONIC DISTRIBOR [NO POINTS] I HAVE THE ORIGINAL CARB AND DISTRIBTOR FOR IT. FRONT SEATS ARE ORIGINAL REAR IS NOT, LOTS OF THINGS AND HISTORY TOO MUCH TO INCLUDE HERE , JEEP IS 98 PERCENT RUST FREE”
“1942 Willys off-road jeep. It was converted 3 yrs ago to a Chevy 4.3L V-6, Ford T-18 transmission with sought after 6.32-1 granny gear and Dana 18 transfer case. Axles are a 3/4 ton Dana 44 front with detroit locker and a Dana 60 rear. They have both been completely rebuilt and narrowed with Moser axles and bearings, Heavy duty Tom Woods drive shafts front and rear with a CV style u-joint on rear. This is one of few Willys Jeeps that have been converted to coil spring with front and rear triangulated suspension. It has a awesome, smoothe off road ride with incredible articulation with no bindage. It has dual exhaust, edelbrock carb, power steering, 33” Thornbirds, hydraulic clutch, and a large marine battery. Has a massive 200 amp alternator to run 1000 watts of lights and a Warn 9000 winch with a removable cradle to plug in front and rear. The entire drive line since new only has a couple thousand miles on it and has never been street legal or taken to the beach. This Jeep has only been used in the Winter on a 200 acre deer lease for the past few years and stored inside during the summer. I’m no longer paying the high prices for deer leases and decided to sell my Willy and buy a street legal CJ7. Im firm on the 7000 and if it doesn’t sell, I’ll just convert it to street legal. This has some cool history — the seller’s grandfather drove this around Yosemite as a park ranger for 10 years.
“1945 Ford GPW military jeep, 4 x 4. Great condition has been in storage for 20 years, runs. My grandfather drove this around Yosemite for 10 years as a park ranger. Mostly original. Very hard to find. This is not a kit or cheap fiberglass rip-off. Color is sky blue with a black vinyl top. Some extra parts included. Could be easily restored to military specs or left as is for a ranch/farm or hunting lodge. Have title in hand and is currently registered as Non op. $ 5000.00 or best offer Leave phone number along with offer and I will call you, all offers will be considered. Thank you Michael”
(08/09/2010) Neither Brett nor I can figure out what those handles on the hood do. This looks very restorable.
“I am selling my 1943 Ford GPW Jeep. Body data plate and frame data plate match. Jeep runs. Has the typical hat channel rust. Many original parts, grab handles, footman loops, and other brackets still attached. If you are the type of person that likes to work on a untouched original vehicle, this is for you. This jeep has a lot of F-marked parts and bolts. Original 6 volt system and flat head engine. I have extra parts also. This web site has more pictures on it: http://staceysgpw.mypicgallery.com/
(05/09/2010) This looks solid, with a nice roll cage and newer 4cyl engine. It has odd little body additions on both sides door entrances.
“old ford jeep complete and runs great, but not all original it has a 76 or 77 chevy 4 cylinder engine, all original running gear but with 11″ brakes . This is a good old jeep and does not need much to be 100%”
It’s not a perfect restoration, but appears solid.
“’42 Ford GPW military jeep. Engine rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. Has had restoration work done but not ground up. Runs and drives well. Engine strong, non directional tires.”
I’m not sure what we have. It’s got a GPW Frame, a Willys Body, a CJ-2A windshield and gearing. This will need the clutch replaced.
“Looks great, runs fine, but needs a new clutch. Willys body, Ford frame, Good tires, breaks, etc. I bought this Jeep for $7K earlier in the year thinking it would be perfect for use on our ranch, but not realizing the Jeep is geared extremely low and realistically only gets up to about 30mph. The ranch is out behind Mount Hamilton and it would take us far too long to drive this little Jeep out there, so I kept it as a collectible “fun” vehicle. We were out joy riding (it’s a fun old ride) and the clutch gave out. Had to tow it back home, now it’s been sitting for a couple of months (we start her up once a month). Make me an offer, times are tough and we need the cash.”
