Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The grille and other parts might be older, but the body looks like it is newer. Note the tailgate in the rear and the gas inlet on the driver’s side, suggesting this is more likely a CJ-2A body or later.
“World War II Era Willys Jeep, 14,000 miles, Flathead 4 cylinder engine, 4 X 4 works great, Tires in good shape, Runs Great goes about 50 miles an hour, wouldn’t take much to get it to its original condition, Chris (435)659-0292”
I suspect these are more likely MB than GPW parts, but the seller doesn’t indicate which.
“’42 Willys engine block, Flywheel, clutch and bell housing, $100. [no head]
’42 Willys 3-speed transmission and 2-speed transfer case, $250. [works fine]
’42 Willys jeep frame,$50. [the frame includes everything in the picture except the axles, wheels/tires and towbar]

UPDATE: **SOLD** was $17,000.
“1944 Ford GPW Military Jeep. Here is an immaculately restored World War II military version of the Ford built GPW, commonly called a Jeep. This vehicle is restored just as it was when new, and is correct in all details of configuration except for upgraded 12 volt electrical circuitry to make it more reliable. This incredible time capsule has two piece combat rims, optional axe and shovel, left and right side restraints, auxiliary 5 gallon Jerry can, aft mounted spare tire and front mounted pintle hook.”
This jeep has got one of the more unique hoods I’ve ever seen, a bump with a half cylinder. From the pics, the body doesn’t look too bad. The seller doesn’t indicate whether this is a MB or GPW.
“43 willys flat fender. Has sat for around five years. Ran good when parked, may need a little to get going again. Do have original wheels and tires to go with as well. $1000 firm or may trade for nicer firearm”
The ad says 1947, but the body in the pics looks like an MB or GPW. Apparently there are two jeeps and extra parts.
“2 Jeeps (military) great for hunting or restoration project, one running and the other used for parts. Also extra parts – grill, fenders, 2 extra blocks. Asking $3500 but can be flexible. Call 903-498-7089 for more information.”
I can’t say for certain, but the year would indicate this is a MB or GPW body and parts. No condition noted and no pics included. It’s been available since at least Nov 24th.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000.
“I am selling a 1942 GPW. It has a bikini top a hard top with full doors and half doors. It has 538 gears and has a dana 44 rear with limited slip. It is sitting on 33 in BFG mud terrains and has plenty of grip. Custom suspension that makes this jeep articulate like a mofo. Wrangler 4 inch lift springs with a swing shackle reversal.It also has a 6000lb wench that works great. The original L134 flat head engine still runs like a champ and with the gearing has no trouble climbing plus it is good on gas. Runs great and ready to wheel. The bottom right image is before I painted the jeep grey. There are many extras like tow bar and extra fenders.”
What kind of top is that? If the body is in reasonable condition, not a bad price for a running GPW.

This might be a ’44 or a ’45. It’s definitely a project. Lots of parts of pieces which the seller lists on the Craigslist Ad.
“I bought a ’44 or ’45 MB years ago with the intention of using it for a hunting rig. What I bought was rough, to say the least. Upon tearing into it I discovered a lot of wonderful parts. Appreciating history, I decided to do as much restoration as I could without going overboard. I acquired a lot of needed parts and slowly began the process. Well, many years later it’s going nowhere and I don’t have a hunting rig. I’d like to swap it for a license worthy and smog test exempt (CA) jeep that I can take hunting and occasionally to the grocery store….”
This MB looks like a play jeep. It does not appear to be licensed. I wonder if the stock axles were upgraded. I’d think that power and those tires would be hard on stock MB axles.

WILLY HAS A 283 CHEVY V-8 RUNS SMOOTH, QUIET,AND COOL. IT HAS HEADERS AND GLASS PACKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A V-8 SHOULD. IT HAS A 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN REBUILT AND IS A STOCK TRANNY. THE REST OF THE DRIVE TRAIN IS STOCK I THINK? WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 4X4 LOCK OUT HUBS. FOR ADDED DRIVE ABILITY I’VE ADDED A STEERING BOX WITH A GM POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN MANEUVERING THE 31 X15 GOODYEAR TERRA TIRES ON 14 INCH WIDE STEEL RIMS.”
