Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1943 Ford GPW / Willys MB. 2.3l Ford turbo engine from a Ford Thunderbird. Curie D44 front, Jeep D44 rear, locking hubs on all 4 wheels for flat towing, twin stick Dana 300, T90. New battery, overhauled rear end, transmission, and transfer case. Includes car dolly and arctic cab. Registered. Effectively a 200hp street legal side-by-side.”
I suspect this extended bed was an owner mod, as it’s longer and more permanent than the commercial extensions that were produced.

Tires are newer, but flat. You’ll need an air compressor to air them up. There’s power at the storage unit so you can plug something in. It should start. It’s only been sitting a year. I recommend having it towed/trailered anyway.
I am devastated to lose this. I grew up with it. My father made most of the modifications to it. It was our fishing/camping vehicle.
My boyfriend just passed and I can’t keep it. I want it to go to someone that will love it and use it.

“1942 Ford GPW Jeep. Serial number GPW-70489 Jeep Comes with new windshield frames, rear floorboards, and new sections of the frame. THERE IS NO DRIVE TRAIN or hood. Someone had swapped civilian stuff under it and it was complete junk. Jeep does come with a title. The trailer is a 1948 bantam. Previous owner cut out the floor other than that it is in good shape. Both for 2000. Will not respond to is this available.”

If you are look for a run around Jeep, OK. If you are looking for a quality restoration project, this Jeep is a disaster. It is sad the abuse inflicted on this early script Ford. Roll bar runs through the floor and is welded to the frame. The body was re-skinned. I cannot determine how much of the body is original or its condition. Drivers seat was extended two inches. Look over the pictures carefully. More pictures at:

On the good side: The engine spins freely be hand. It has the early scalloped axles. Early windshield hold down, Ford Script, and other F marks.
In addition, included will be the two windshield frames, hood and one combat wheel.”
