This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (10/23/2014) “Fully restored 1942 Jeep built by Ford. GPW Script Jeep . GPW on a MB frame [ correct ] factory 12 volt. Built March 16, 1942.”

(12/31/2016) Runs, but has been patched and has some incorrect parts.

Appears to have a GPW crossmember.
“This vintage jeep has been in the family for about 10 years. It ran and drove well before it went into the shop for a new firewall. Was given to step son as a first vehicle, however this is not a good vehicle for a new driver. I can send more pictures or answer additional questions if requested.

327 SBC Engine freshened up all new gaskets and seals
New heads
New Holly carb (CFM unknown)

Lots of parts, just needs someone with the time to wrench them together
Tub is in good shape
Vintage WWII era 1945 (has ammo storage containers and re-enforced floor for machine gun mount)
The bad:
Needs repainting
No wiring, requires all electrical installation
May need new driveshafts, have the originals, but new ones would be better
Has not run in about 3 years”

“1942 ford gpw jeep. This is a good project jeep. it is 75 years old and shows it. I purchased it as a project, and now need the cash to repair my truck. I repaired the steering and got it to run. It needs lots of tlc. $4000.00 OBO”

(10/07/2016) It looks like the tool lids are MB rather than GPW.
“Bought this and did alot to it but alot had already been don. I mainly did the cosmetic restore.. someone else did alot of other mechanical stuff to it.. I bought it from a guy in Washington state. I have Washington title.. easy to swap over..
Get it cheap because I need cash.. these go for upwards of 20k.. I’m selling cheap because I need cash quick.. I just finished my restoring.. it needs to be driven is all.. it has an oil pan leak.. u can see where it’s coming from .. that is all it needs to be just about perfect..

This is a pretty early GPW, #10584.
“GPW 10584 Matching Frame and Engine.
This is a Special Jeep for a Special Collection. This is the rare model of Ford jeeps which were built on Willys Frames before Ford could Produce its on frames.
Complete Restoration of Entire Jeep. Engine, Transmission, transfer case, differentials etc.
Body is all original with a nice F script on the rear. Much time was taken to preserve as many F bolts as possible and keep the jeep in original condition.
Jeep is in Excellent running condition and is a true museum piece. Looks as if it just rolled off factory lines. Not one to take 4 wheeling.”
It’s a roller that needs work. This is also on eBay with a starting bid price of $1950.
