Here’s a beautiful Commando!

“1968 Jeepster Commando.  I have owned this fantastic Jeep for several years. I personally (and the previous owner) have completely renovated and improved this classic from bumper to bumper. I have over $19,000 in receipts for just the improvements not including the $4,000 paint job.

Newer 4.3 liter GMC Vortec V-6 from a 1995 Jimmy. Installed when it had 24,000 miles. It now has less than 36,000 and runs as you would expect (like new!) It is the ideal size for a retro-fit and has more-than-plenty of power and torque. Good gas mileage too. I have been using synthetic blend oil. It does not use any oil nor leak a drop, and of course, does not ever smoke. Lots and lots of new stuff under the hood including new radiator and steel fan. Matching wiring harness and correct wiring through-out. Computerized fuel pump …”

This looks like a good price on a Jeepster that looks pretty good.

“1949 Jeep Jeepster willys kaiser. Fully rebuilt flathead 4, all new parts. New motor. Bored .100 over. 3 speed on the tree. New gas tank, oil cooling system, battery, wiring(numbered), paint, shocks, exhaust. All lights work. Lots of extra parts. Convt top missing, but skeleton there and in ok shape. Convertible top is manual. This car runs and drives. Body is far from perfect, it has some rust and minor dents. Nice red paint on top of all of that I just mentioned. I put this ad on for my elderly neighbor, and I will take his calls, answer questions and make appts. Thanks.
14 and crooks area. 248 250 1092.”

Mark spotted this project.  As Mark noted, this appears perfect for those bondo-challenged rebuilders among us.

“I have a nice 1948 Willys Jeepster project up for auction. The owner of this car had me store it for him over 3 years ago and I haven’t heard a word from him since. By now the storage fees out way the value of the car so the car now belongs to me and is for sale. There is no title for this car due to this situation and that’s why its listed in this section. NOW THE GOOD.  The car was painted at a local car dealership and then moved into my climate controlled shop and has been here since, just like you see it. It looks like it was painted yesterday. Body is great,  all of the yellow and black painted parts seen in pics are ready to reinstall. The frame was stripped and repainted black when the body was done.  A great car to start putting back together. Other parts include the engine, radiator, convertible top frame, seats, moldings, glass, tons of small parts, etc. We were told it was all there when it arrived. Not being an expert, it’s hard for me to say. I cannot find a VIN number, frame numbers etc,  but all seems to be original as we were told by the last owner. The interior of the body is still in need or restoration. the dash was stripped and primed inside. Under the cowl is super clean. The underbody around the floor pans has not been painted but has been mostly sanded clean. I believe a RH rear fender was replaced or worked at one time due to “new” looking exposed metal in the inner wheel well. I would be glad to answer any questions if I can. Other pics also availible.  Feel free to ask. Car is also availible for personal inspection in my shop Thanks!”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $10,500.

Here’s a fun Jeepster.

“1950 Willys Jeepster, title is a 46. This is a quick little car, that runs great, steers and stops like it should. No frills just a cool little drop top driver. I bought it as a basket case and replaced or rebuilt pretty much the entire car. This car is made to drive, no bull, just you the road and a V8 growl out the back from three inch pipes. You can spend time driving or waxing, if you’re a waxer car show guy, this is not your kind of car. I completed the car three years ago and it is 100% dependable.

DRIVE TRAIN
350 small block Chevy bored .060 over, nice Summit cam train with alloy roller rockers, big 2.02 valve heads with three angle valve job done by local NAPA shop, Offenhourser intake and Edelbrock carb, HEI, vintage Offenhourser valve covers, aluminum pump and large core aluminum radiator, one wire alternator, mini starter, block-hugger headers dump into custom. 2 ½” exhaust back to 3” out the rear. Borg Warner 5 speed trans with 11” hydraulic clutch and S10 Blazer rear end.

SUSPENSION and BRAKES
Power front disc with drum rear, all brake components are new, to include all lines, Rack and pinion steering with modified Willys column, new tires and chrome wheels.

BODY & INTERIOR
New top, including wood bows, new side curtains, new upholstery, custom engine turned stainless instrument panel with new gauges and switches, new wiring harness, custom welded in floor pans, four seat belts.

I have a new project, and just too many cars, this one has to go. Call Dave @ 607-527-8847  for more info”

Jeepster Prototypes

• CATEGORIES: Features, Jeepster This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I was doing some research on GBW’s FC 170s when stumbled upon several Jeepster prototypes listed at the American Jeepster Club along with some other Jeepster specific information.  Below I reference 3 prototypes found on the history page.  Please visit the American Jeepster Club’s ‘Willys-Overland Jeepster History’ page to learn more.  The fourth image is a 1979 Jeepster Prototype press release I found at offroaders.com — it seems to me it was a good idea NOT to develop this one.
