About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

“I have for sale a 1951 M38. Rebuilt radiator, seat frames, bumperettes, instrument cluster, data tags and lots of misc. parts also go with this jeep. Vehicle is not running. Engine, trany and transfer case there. There is rust through the floor about where passenger would put his feet and the front drivers side fender. floor under gas tank and tool box are solid and not rotted out. $1400.00 or best offer. Trades considered, tell me what you have.”
(05/28/2013) The seller needs to adjust several of the claims, but I do find the spool on the front of this jeep interesting.
“This is not a civilian clone it’s a true military unit.
1 of 40,000 made – the rarest of the Willys military Jeeps.
It’s not running because it needs plug wires and tuning.
The front passenger side tire inner tube needs to be replaced.
The body is not perfect – the worst is the tool box under the passenger seat – a replacement costs $80.”
The lower edge of the body looks like it has been changed/modified.
“Nice 1952 Willys M38 with no rust or body issues. This is the military version of the CJ3A. Buick V6 with low hours. Rancho Suspension. Full Roll Cage. Warn 6000 winch. Tow Bar. Full floating rear axle with warn hubs for flat towing. Lockrite lockers in rear differential. Newer Best Top. Bikini Top. Nice tires/wheels. This is not a project jeep. It’s a nice classic Willys flatfender that runs and drives. It’s priced to sell. I’m only selling it because I’m just too busy to use it. No trades. Thanks for looking. Mark 541-490-6586”
“This 1952 Willys M38 Jeep is a running driving Jeep. Still has the 24volt electrical system. This Jeep is original and unrestored, also has very little rust. Has very good military tires on original military rims. This is a good candidate for a military restoration. I’ll be glad to answer question by email or phone”
Listed as a 3A, it looks more like a M-38 to me. Probably first titled in 1953.
“1953 CJ3A 134L flat head 4. Runs perfect. All 4×4 works good. Pan is in excellent shape. Needs brake work and gas tank. Running on boat tank now. New tank 157.00 from www.KaiserWillys.com. text or call 7692187045. May trade for rat rod, old hot rod.”
Steve’s friend is selling this jeep. It has a 2A body.
“1950-51 Willys Military M38. The tub is off a 46 CJ2a. It is still 24 volt. The frame, grill, engine, drivetrain, and Arctic Top are all original m38. It has a new fuel tank and sender, new waterproof ignition parts, water pump. It also comes with new steering parts, new brake parts and master cylinder. The seat frames are painted and it has new od green canvas covers. The aluminum hard top is an original military overland “Arctic Top”. The ignition parts have been replaced and the carb has been rebuilt. The engine runs and I have driven it around the parking lot, but the brakes do not work (there are new brake parts included). The Tub has some rust, but the rest of the body is in decent shape. I had planned to replace the tub with an original M38 tub whenever I found one. This is a great restoration project. It is currently titled as a 1946 CJ2a. $2500 OBO
We were told when we bought it that it was used on the Boone, IA reserve base many years ago.
Email with question and I can give you my number and we can talk about it.
Not looking for trades. Thankyou”
I’ve updated the post to correct my own confusion.
