The front bumper sure is odd.
“This is a great project that is close to being complete.”

UPDATE: The price has dropped to $5000 and the jeeps’ been cleaned up since it was last listed.
(07/31/2012) “Asking $5000 OBO. I’ll entertain trade offers on anything of equal value. Needing a 60 gal air compressor and media blast and welding equipment (no arc stick welders).
I have a 1951 Willys M38 that is 90% road ready.
The Willys needs an oil line to the oil filter bath unit replaced (I’m planning on replacing it next weekend) and a battery to run – that’s it.
The front passenger side tire has a slow leak – I haven’t bothered to find the source yet as I’m working on it in my garage and hasn’t bothered me.
There is some painted-over rust / rot in the passenger side floorboard and the tool storage box under the passenger side seat.
The windshield is cracked but you can get a new one for less than $150.
The trailer is road ready and the tires are in great shape. I just pulled it 30+ miles with a Nissan Pathfinder and it pulled perfectly.
Some of the wood rail sections could be replaced but they are solid. I don’t have the canvas.
There is some rust but most is just scale. There are a few rust / rot spots that could use repair but nothing major and you can easily use it as it sits.
The lights look to be aftermarket replacements. They don’t work but I think it’s just the ground wire. I’ll look into it this weekend too.
This was designed for a deuce and a half truck but if you flip the pintle on the trailer you can lower the tongue height by as much as twelve inches and pull it all day with the M38.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7000.
This has a GPW motor.
“For Sale:1952 Military m38 Jeep
GPW Ford Motor 4cylinder.
Runs and drives great. Fun jeep to bring in the woods or around town.”
UPDATE: Price now $8500 (Previously, there was no price). Status Unknown.
“Additional photos and information upon request. Price negotiable. Below Jeep shown in Memorial Day Parade 2010.”
The body of this Jeep is in excellent condition. Engine was rebuilt by excellent mechanics. Water pump is not new but appears to be fine. New thermostat, new starter, generator checks good, new radiator and belts, new springs for a slightly softer ride, transmission and rear-end rebuilt – new seals, etc., new wheel bearings and seals, new tie-rod joints, etc, all lights work except right tail light (have not checked out problem), new wiring harness, 24 volt system.
ISSUES: Carburetor air-wrong pipe between carburetor and air cleaner, grill needs to be adjusted to be vertical, fuel gauge doesn’t work – could be gauge or fuel-sending unit in gas tank (new fuel-sending unit on hand), temperature gauge – installed a new sensor in engine block but it still doesn’t work…gauge? sensor?, Amp meter gauge doesn’t work., 3 data plaques need to be attached (plaques and drive rivets on hand), Brakes-everything is new or rebuilt – new brake lines, new brake master cylinder, new brake cylinders, drums radius ground but still brakes are not as good as they should be – glazed? Hard linings?, Lights – right tail light is not working, Engine timing needs check, Carburetor low speed adjustment needs check, New windshield wiper motors installed but wiper is inoperative – should check valve and connections-could be vacuum pump-may need rebuilt kit?, New tires but wrong size…7:00-16 should be 6:00-16, two small holes in seat covers – daughter stood on seats with high heels during Veterans Day parade-bad move -otherwise all seats are new, emergency brake works but not correctly-wrong brake cable, horn is hooked up but honks constantly-short?, no top canvas or side curtains, I have the 2 original doors but canvas needs replacement. Mileage: 200 miles since rebuild.
Note: I started the project in 1993, to build the M38. I acquired a 1952 CJ5 that had a near perfect body and modified by adding the battery box in the cowl and adding all the hardware to make it identical to a military Jeep. Bought and had a top-noch rebuild on an original engine. Purchased new or very good original accessories such as starter, generator, etc, new paint and markings of the Jeep I used in the Korean War. If the issues I’ve listed were addressed, the Jeep should be identical to a true military issued vehicle. I used the CJ5 Title to license as an antique vehicle.
This needs rewiring. Unclear what else it needs. Given the gas container on the bumper, it might need gas tank work.
“military willys from down south. all new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. front kingpin bearings replaced and everything was repacked with grease. very complete. changed all fluids. have running and have drove down the road. at the point it could be repainted or drive as it is. lights areunhooked but can be hooked back up. guages need to be rewired. call for more info or to see it in person. 810-95six-285six”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was an Auction.
This was Mike Yeck’s collection, who I understand passed away last year.
MBs, GPWs, M-38, M-38A1, M-170 and much more: Here are just some of the images. Many parts and other items for sale, too.
It looks like a M-38 except for the battery box. But on the cowl there looks like body work where it might have been. The rear of this is beat up.
“great runing jeep rebuilt motor call if interested. NO TEXT !!! call 15026431237”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3100.
(04/09/2013) This is a parts jeep or a project.
“For sale: Willys Jeep w/a Muncie 4 speed, Auburn overdrive (project/parts car) for $3100 o.b.o”
It’s got the wrong windshield and front bumper, but otherwise looks like a M-38.
“The Military never issued vin numbers or titles so in the state of Nevada I have to see the Judge to get a title. I do not have time…want somebody to buy this that knows the history on how to buy this vehicle. Bought from a rancher and runs great, I bought lots of restoration parts….ask or questions….”
UPDATE: Was $8000. **SOLD**
It appears mostly stock, but can’t tell a lot from the pics.
