This price doesn’t look too bad.

Here’s a pretty stock M-38; but, it needs some lovin.
“
This jeep is the real thing. It was going to be a project vehicle, but we are moving this summer and now it must go. We were told it was running and the gearbox works good. The starter drags and will not turn over the engine fast enough to start. We haven’t worked on it at all since we have had it, but the previous owner had it running and would be willing to speak to anyone who is interested.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
Brett, who’s stealthily become head of the Utah’s ewillys correspondent (so stealthily, that even he doesn’t know it), found this gem … well … someone’s momma loves it.

Here’s one Brett forwarded. It’s not the prettiest M-38, but it sounds like it motors around well.

It looks solid.
“It’s a Korean war era jeep. Runs and drives good with some reparible rust damage. It had a CJ5 or M38A1 overhead valve engine. I had to replace the engine with the original flathead side valve 134L, clean and seal the transmission and transfer case, put original rims on it, reinstall the glass, sand and paint the jeep, put original numbers on hood, replace the electrical and gauges, remake the driver seat frame; clean, sand, seal, and repaint gas tank; rebuild the distributor, new alternator and battery, and rebuilt/converted to 12 volt starter, replaced all fluids, rebuild the carb, new brake master and front brake sheos, repair the emergancy brakes, fix the speedometer gear inside the transfer case rear mount and replace cable with the speedometer guage, and fixed an intake manifold crack. The engine is a 1940s WWII ford GPW jeep engine. It runs perfect with good oil pressure and no smoke. All it needs now to be perfect is a new timing chain. I can hear it raddle a little bit. The seats in the picture does not come with it. An original M38 driver seat frame comes with it instead. thanks, Bryan. cell Phone: 601-862-9873. Email: Bdawgs2007@aol.com.”
Here’s another one courtesy of Jean-Sebastien. Bids have reached $9100. No offense to the seller, but I don’t quite understand why someone would modify a ’47 into a M-38 at such a detailed level as this has been done? But, hell, I’ve done plenty of things that didn’t make any sense!
“This is a Collectors 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A modified to m38 with a military green paint job that is a year old. The seats were done year ago in green canvas. Jeep has a new go devil four cylinder motor that is green to match paint and was installed about year ago. Jeep runs great and has been garaged every winter. It comes with the one year old green canvas top. New unidirectional 7.00-16 Tires and green rims, Paint and Interior are in Great Condition. Everything has been replaced and redone from Brakes, Paint, Interior, Exhaust. The 4×4 works great with the 3 speed T90 transmission. I can provide more pictures on request.”
UPDATE: Looks to have a replacement body. Was $5000. **SOLD**
This looks like it is in very good condition. Not totally stock …
“HAS BEEN SITTING IN GARAGE NEED TO MAKE ROOM COME AND LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!! HAVE ALL INVOICES OF ALL WORK DONE AND PUT INTO. MAKE ME AN OFFER”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.
I’m thinking this might be a M-38? I think I see tool indents on the passenger side. Those tires are pretty worn.
“Selling a original 1946 Jeep Willy that runs and drives for $5,000.00. Only modifications is it has been converted to 12 volt. Almost all parts are new only thing that needs work is the rocker panels and floor boards are rusted.”
I’m not sure what a GE refrigerating machine type CK-2-D16 is? The seller lists this as a CJ-2A, but I’m guessing it is a M-38.
“I have a 1952 CJ2A Military Jeep with trailer for sale that I have owned for 35 years. It RUNS GOOD, is in good condition, no rust and could easily be restored back to military standard. It also has an operational general electric refrigerating machine type CK-2-D16 serial #8213178. I am asking $4,000.00 for the Jeep and trailer, please call Wayne at 512-970-4901 with questions.”
This looks like a M-38 to me, rather than a CJ-3A as indicated by the seller. I wouldn’t mind seeing some more pics of this.
