Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1951 Willys M38 MC Jeep
We got it from grandfather’s estate.
He drove it around his farm, parades, etc.
It was parked in his barn around 25 years ago.
It was running properly at that time.
We trailered it home and took it to a mechanic friend.
He got it running and driving.
He said it now runs pretty good. (sounds fine to me)
He and his grandson were driving it around his farm.
I drove it a couple of miles. (fun, but I prefer fast toys)
It it titled in MN, now in our name.
It still needs
1) brake work (brakes are functional but weak)
2) mechanic said slight grinding noise coming from rear. I didnt hear it, but trust my friend.
It has a removable soft top/doors.
We bought a replacement OEM Willys metal gas tank for it
(the original tank is solid but has some buildup inside)
I have video of the engine running, and me driving it.”
