Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1951 Willys M38 project. No engine. Twin-stick transfer case, Warn overdrive unit. Brand new Rancho suspension. Tires are old but have almost no miles on them. I have the headlight buckets and trim also. This jeep is going to require a lot of work to put together. I bit off more than I can handle. I bought it from a junk yard, so there isn’t a title until it gets put together and inspected by the highway patrol.
This jeep had a carbureted 302 in it when I bought it, so that’s what the motor mounts are. I bought a fuel injected 302 to put in it, but never did. ”

UPDATE: Seller has a 2A windshield on this and now has a 3A windshield. It has an unusual PTO setup on the rear.

It has the rare original, factory front and rear twin stick PTO system.
Seats are in very good condition, it’s been converted to 12 volt.
No rust, original tub is in great condition, runs great, just needs master cylinder(which is included).
The Willys is an original western, dry, no salt vehicle.
I also have spare parts that are included such as windshield frames, new wiring harness, headlight guards, new brake cylinders, new gas tank, as well as many other new and original parts.
It has all of the original data plates mounted on the dash.
No current CT title, just a bill of sale will be provided to the buyer.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4300.
Between “Excellent Project” and “Blue Chip Investment” the seller is overselling this one.
“Fresh from the barn serial# 65627 of 72329 very scarce model of the M38. Super solid frame some floor pan rust lots of dents and some tore sheet metal. The previous owner told me it was running 10 years ago when it was parked. The engine is free. It was converted to 12volt. I am selling it as found the gas tank is very rusty inside. Like I said this is begging for a total restoration these are becoming the next blue chip investment. I do have a transferable N.Y. title.”
Seller accidentally listed this as an M-38A1.

There’s some parts value here at the very least.
“I have a barn find 1951 Willy’s Jeep. It was my Dad’s. It ran about 3-4 years ago. It does not currently run. I think the fuel system is gummed up. The title says 1968 but I was told that it is a 51 but when it was sold from the military/government it was in 1968 thus the date on the title. With a little TLC I believe this would be a great Jeep. It has been stored inside I just pulled it outside for better pictures.”
Art spotted this almost stock M-38 with a Stewart Warner heater.
1950 Willys M38 Model MC Arctic Jeep 4 X 4. Serial # MC 30993. Mileage reads 68,059. Powered by the original 4 cylinder Go Devil engine. 3 speed manual transmission with 2 speed transfer case and locking hubs. This is an actual Military issue Arctic model Jeep with the rear body reinforcement panels. The top and doors are removable and the heater can be run without starting the Jeep (heater has not been tested but is reported to be working). This Jeep starts easily and runs good, the transmission works as it should.
The Willy’s M38 Jeeps were only built from 1949 to 1952 and this is a nice example of a Korea War vintage Jeep with an unusual Arctic service upgrade. To watch the video.”
