Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1952 Willys M38A-1 Army Jeep. This military jeep is very original. Has 4 cyl. engine, 4WD, 24V electrical system, 16 inch wheels with excellent tires, rebuilt fuel tank, new fuel pump, new radiator, new hoses and belts, recent tune-up. Comes with new canvas military seats. Brakes are good, and the engine runs great. Currently registered. Comes with tow bar. $3,750.”

“This is the rare 1953 M38A1 Willys jeep, in Good condition. Original engine and drivetrain. Runs good and has a clear title. This model jeep was the type vehicle used in the Korean war. This is the type vechicle used in the MASH episodes and a real honest to goodness Willys jeep. It was known for being reliable, dependable, and damn near indestructable. Vehicle has been garaged for 10 years, and well maintained.
It runs. Bodies are so overrated.

It might not take much to re-militarize this solid looking M-38A1.

“My Dad is selling his 1952 M-38A-1 Willys Military Jeep. The Jeep has 40,000 actual miles. Had been a forestry department jeep when He bought it. The Jeep has all new brakes, tires and all canvas has been replaced. Was repainted in USMC green and markings. Comes with a correct radio and has a CD player mounted in the glove box which is wired to a Military speaker on the dash which he used to play Patriotic songs. Its a very nice driving old jeep just ready for this Summers cruising.”

“This is a military Jeep with a 24 volt system. It is all stock, complete with snorkel tube and canvas side curtains and doors. It is in good condition. Motor is free and the 4 wheel drive works fine. 4 cylinder motor and 3 speed transmission. I put a new gas tank in it, the brakes have been gone over and are good and working. It will run but needs a fuel pump and possible carb rebuild. It has two new Red Top Optima batteries and new cables. It has military tires that for a hunting vehicle are OK but for the highway need to be replaced.”

“Korean War-era M38A1 Jeep and M100 Trailer for sale. Set has been stored under cover since 1980 with only operation to keep it maintained. Runs smoothly and starts well. New valve gasket installed. No rust. Oregon registration. Recent radiator rodding. Recent complete lube, fluid, belts, brakes, headlights, headlight wiring harness, trailer wiring harness. New military trailer electrical cable, new headlights on jeep, new military canvas top, excellent trailer canvas cover and center bar. New backseat and cushions. All gauges work. Comes with new, in-the-box military turn signal set for M-series military vehicles (not installed) and conversion yellow light covers as well as conversion red lens for rear lights. Comes with new military door safety straps and fittings (not installed).”
