This is a little rough, but looks complete. Mark has it listed at warjeeps.com.
“Willys Jeep, model M38A1. She runs but needs a bit of body work. Been sitting for a while now and needs batteries but with a little love, this would be a perfect hunting partner. I do not have the specifics other than it was built in 1953, plus or minus a couple of years. $2,000.00 Mike 719-641-1957”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Were $3000.
This sounds interesting …
“I have 2 1952 jeeps. [ 3000 for both ] They are W-38 -a1 –? …they have original 4 cylinder overhead valve engines [getting specs] ….sealed for under water … both have 23,000 miles….have titles and I am investigating the history…..they were Naval issue …with stainless steel original hard tops…have original wooden doors with original army green paint on inside….were purchased at a surplus auction in the sixtys, and used very little. Kept semi inside, these jeeps were green, then blue civil service color…they still have the remnents of the civil service stickers and #s on hoods…the one has a plate that says Edwards Airforce Base on front bumper …they have different types of info stickers on both …one inteior says commander vehicle ..these jeeps are in great condition, with one with minor corner spot. These are unrestored jeeps sealed with naval blue rustolium in good condition …both motors are free [ and i will post engine compresion on both ] – cleaning fuel systems now and both will be running shortly. They are complete down to the original air cleaners ..everything…even have the jerry cans for back of both.. Will post more info as I get it …email for any questions ….any offers appreiciated as well as any shared info. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1400
(04/15/2011) What is that on the hood?
“1953 Willys military Jeep. My father-in-law had this surplus Jeep turned into a hunting Jeep complete with a marine plywood dog box. It always ran great, but unfortunately I never started it up after he gave it to me eight years ago. It was stored outside for much of that time, but is now stored inside.
This is a historical model. The M-38A1 was the military equivalent to the civilian CJ-3. 1953 was the first year of the M-38A1. The CJ-3 didn’t come out until the following year. Definitely a collectors item for Willys Jeep fans.”
Some good work appears to have been done.

(05/17/2011) This looks great for the price, though this appears to be a M-38A1 body on an earlier frame.
“1951 Willy’s M38 A1 Jeep for sale. Runs and drives. New snow tires so can be driven or towed. New Solex carburetor. Have a few spare parts including original air cleaner. Have not found any rust in body except in rear deck by rear seat. I believe a previous owner has done the body work as the body is straight and clean. Stock gauges in-op. Transmission, transfer case and differentials are tight. Over the last three years I have taken it on a half dozen 40 mile back road trips with no problem
