This seller has a ‘professional appraisal’ for this MB, which, if like other appraisals I have seen, is likely too high to match reality.
“Collectible Vintage 1945 Willy’s MB Military Jeep for sale.
This is a matching numbers Willy’s MB that has been completely restored from the ground up. It’s also a one family own vehicle since purchased in Stockton CA. at the military surplus sale by my great uncle in 1946.
I’m not posting anymore images because the appraisal has everything you need to know about the Jeep including images.
On July 14th 2011 the Jeep professionally appraised and documented by Auto Appraiser Network, Stockton CA. branch. This appraisal is available upon request for serious buyers.
I am selling this family heirloom by choice. With two teenage boy’s, I need practical, safe and reliable cars for them…My goal is to find a great home for this WW II treasure. Preferably a museum or a real collector since there simply are not many of these original jeeps around.
Enjoy this post, and I sincerely hope this MB Jeep goes to a very good home.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
Matt confirmed that the top two pics are before the jeep was disassembled and the bottom two pics are of the jeep after it was taken apart. Matt forwarded me some pics I can share if you are interested in seeing them.

Flat head engine starts and runs. Has new carburetor installed
Does drive and the 4WD appears to be working
Have title for it.
Does need work to get it back on the road. Needs master cylinder and brake shoes (have the shoes – parts can be bought at Kaiser Willys online)
Have extra parts including another hood and wind shield
Would make a cool project for someone.”
UPDATE: Was $8900. **SOLD**
Mostly stock, but not “all very stock”.
“8 year old restoration with new steel body, lives inside all winter, but outside most of the summer. Fun to drive, and a real eye-catcher. As photo’s show, all is very stock- combat rims, military tires, blackout lights, shovel, axe and rear seat.”
That’s a MB or GPW body that might not be too bad under all that surface rust.
“46 Willys Jeep, only second year sold to civilians, V8 302, project, not running, barn find, have 2 sets of tires and wheels, one set has Dick Cepek tires, SW guages, B&M shifter. 254 729-8473 $1500. firm or trade for nice mower.”
UPDATE: A Buyer bought this through the ‘buy now’ button. It will be restored.
“You are bidding on a 1942 Slat Grill Willys mb. The serial number is MB 114517 DOD is 1/27/42 the Toe gusset # is 17920.
The Frame tag and dash data plate match.
Overall the jeep would make a great restoration project. Please take the time to go through all the pictures I’ve attempted to leave nothing out.
The jeep comes with a lot of the hard to find ORIGINAL parts such as an actual slat grill grill, Gas Gauge, 5 mph increment speedo (needs work the needle is broken), 30/30 amp guage, hinged filtertte, Rear seat, top bows, bumper, and an STL pintle.
The body is pretty straight and solid with the exception of a patch in the passenger floor board, a little rust in that passenger seam, some skimmed areas of body filler on the tub and rust out in the fuel tank sump and shovel area. The hat channels are decent but some will need a little repair. Again this is a very nice solid start (PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES IN SLIDE SHOW)
The frame is very nice and has the original bumper gussets and frame tag.
The motor does run when hot wired and the jeep rolls easy. The T84 transmission transfer all seemed to function just fine.
The motor is a bit of a mystery as the boss where the serial number should be is completely unstamped. The casting at the lower part of the engine is correct for what should be in a slat so I think it would pass a two foot test and I guess you could stamp the boss with what you want if you wanted it to pass for the actual original motor. The head is an early one with the two bolt thermostat.
I do have a number of other parts that will be included such as top bow brackets, body handles, and voltage regulator; These are all pictured in the slide show which has over 160 pics. (IF IT FAILS TO LOAD THE FIRST TIME HIT REFRESH AND if you still you still have problems let me know)
Don’t miss your chance to own this great Slat grill MB project, It has a lot of the hard and nearly impossible to find parts and a ton of potential.
I do have an open clear Idaho title from the last owner and I can put it in my name if this is any what of an issue for you.”
Well, it isn’t original. This is a collection of parts.
“Yes, an original 1945 Willy jeep. Complete, running, registered! New tires. Currently a bimini top for summer. Has second full enclosure with doors. All original. $4400 obo (626) 319-5905”
