1982 CJ-7 Race Jeep Findlay, OH **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6750.
Maybe some old timers remember this race jeep? It was last raced in 1986.
“Mileage is inaccurate cuz its a built race motor. I am selling this for my dad. It is as is condition. Only been fired up a few times in the past 20 some years. This Jeep is mean and believe me loud and mean. As is what it sits condition.”
1962? Sedan Delivery Luka, IL $15,000
UPDATE Still Available under new link.
This was a drag jeep that’s been made street legal. I’m not sure why it is listed as a 1962.
“For sale is a very nice and fun to drive 1962 Willys Panel Wagon. spent most of its life as a drag car on the Coles County Dragstrip before being returned to the street. Very strait body, no rust or dents. Very reliable, I have driven it to the NSRA Nationals event in Louisville KY the last 2 years. No problem running 70+ mph down the interstate. It has a .030 over 350 crate motor, 400 turbo tranny, 9″ ford rearend, power steering. Always gets a lot of attention and you wont see another one like it at the car show. Trades considered”
Ice Racer “Dirty George” (not for sale)
This image was included as part of the sale of a CJ-6 axle (pumpkin removed). It’s an ice-racer with an extended body and a mustang convertible top (reminiscent of the DJ-3A convertible top). It’s sort of an art-car ice-racer. Nice to see folks just having fun with their rigs.
According to the seller of the axle, “I used the [CJ-6] tub and frame to extend a CJ3B to add a Mustang convertible top.”
Sun Carnival Jeep Derby in El Paso, Texas
In the autumn of 1962, the Sun Carnival organization in El Paso, Texas, decided to add the Sun Carnival Jeep Derby, one of only four derby’s held in the US, to it’s late December events calendar (the other ‘derbies’ were held in Las Cruces, Truth or Consequences, and Denver). The grand prize was a brand new 1963 CJ-5 donated by the Willys Manufacturing Company (I think they meant Willys Motors).
Before being presented to the race winner, Carnival manage Bruce Brooks planned to use it by carnival staff to carry tickets between the four branch offices.
Ted C. Brewer of Roswell, New Mexico, went on to win the Inaugural Sun Carnival Jeep Derby.
The next year, the Sun Carnival volunteers put together another course.

Marty’s Race Jeep
Marty was able to complete the work on his race jeep in time to make it to this weekend’s jeep race in Glenwood, Washington. This is a pic from the property where the race was held (beautiful setting). His kids, Ian, Emerson, and Miranda, look like they are having a great time.
He reports there were a few glitches, but he got them worked out enough to make some runs.
1961 Article on the Las Cruces Jeepathon Track
This July 30, 1961, article shared the news that the Las Cruces Jeep Club planned to allow non-racers a chance to drive the ‘Jeepathon’ race track before the racers got a chance to race. The photos show Carol McDonald checking the jeep and the track. I wish the photos were clearer. I’m guessing she was a Las Cruces Jeep Club member?

1953 Photo and Article from a Jeep Playday
This photo and article appeared in the July 09, 1973, issue of the Longview Daily News. I don’t remember the Road Rebels Jeep Club nor can I remember its insignia. The tow bar on the front suggests this jeep was likely a trail and race jeep, if not also a road jeep. It was common to see the family jeep show up at races into the early 1980s. It doesn’t take too many breakdowns of the family jeep while racing to convince owners to build race-only jeeps.

“A hearty crowd turned out for the Jeep Play Day put on by the Road Rebels Jeep Club this weekend in conjunction with Kelso’s Hilander Summer Festival. The unidentified driver has all four wheels slinging mud, sand and water during his run over the course. Photographer Dave Fox captured the action with a camera setting of f16 at 500th of a second, which is considerably slower than the speed he used to get out of the way.”
