Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is a late model convertible DJ-3A that’s has all its convertible top related parts removed. It’s also missing hubcaps.

Hugo shared a French documentary about Uruguay that includes a CJ-3A. Below is a still from the video (full video here). The jeep only makes a couple second appearance.
“At the 3:20 mark, this video shows our central and most important avenue. The date of the video is 18 de Julio (18th July), the day our first constitution was approved. The location along the avenue is still possible to recognize by the architecture. Obviouslly everything else changed.
The Willys is pulling an advertisement for the Lottery of the 6th January day of the Three Kings. It is an important hollyday in Uruguay. Today it is comparable to Christmas, regarding the weight of gifts for children.”
On a side note, while doing some brief research for this, I learned that Uruguay has the longest carnival season in the world, as it runs 40 days each year!
This ad for Marine versions of the L-134 engine appeared in the October 06, 1947, issue of The Key West Citizen newspaper. As the ad notes, these are the “J1” models, which I take to mean that the serial numbers might start with “J1”?

Seems worth a look. Has drivetrain updates.
“1949 Willys Jeep CJ3A. Has the “Dauntless” V6. Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Dana 18 transfer case. Saginaw steering. Front disc brakes. Lots of new parts. $3,000 with new tires and older rims. $2,500 with older original style wheels and tires. Runs well and drives but definitely needs more restoration but that’s part of the fun with these old Willys jeeps. Make offer or if you have something of equal value maybe we can trade.
This Jeep was never titled but the price reflects that. I did a title search in Oregon where it was purchased and came up with nothing. There are ways to license and register it and it really isn’t a big deal but just know there is that issue. Added: The Transmission shifts rough and leaks and may need a rebuild.. Probably needs a new radiator. I took the gas tank off and did a coating on the inside which came out very nice. Put in a new gas tank gauge sending unit. New distributor cap and points. New coolant hoses. Runs well but I have a carburator rebuild kit for it. Changed the oil. Changed the tranny fluid. Did a flush of the coolant system.”

This has a Bobcat hood and a custom 2A windshield with extra glass. No engine or trans.
“1942 Willys MB Jeep Clean WA title! No engine or trans just a roller. I have soft doors and bikini top for it too. None of the sins you see are mine, so if you have comments, keep me laughing. This one sat on the backburner too long and is ready for a new home. You could do almost anything with it, maybe your Mahindra Roxor would be more fun with a new front clip and licence plates? Cheap trail rig? LS swap? Slammed with an SR20det? Crazy 70’s street freak gasser? Anything, well except keep the cage, it’s terrifying. Cash talks, I will respond to folks in order.”

Has a few mods. The body might be new?

Probably a points, coil, or wire fix.
“Was running and lost spark. Have started changing from 6 volt to 12 volt. I have put in an alternator and have a 12 volt distributor and have the wiring harness ordered. Many extra parts. Original 226 hurricane six, three speed with factory overdrive.”
