https://treasure.craigslist.org/cto/d/1953-cj-3b-willys-jeep/6755621517.html
“1953 CJ-3b Willy’s jeep. Frame is solid, but body is pretty much shot. Has been sitting for some time, but all important parts are there. Drivers side seat, rear hitch, windsheld frame with glass, ect. All the other parts are easy to find on ebay. Great for someone looking for a cj-3b jeep without spending alot of money. No title, but new vin plates can be found online and file for a missing title at the dmv, very easy for a car this old.”
UPDATE: Part 2 has been published here.
Tom and his son are rebuilding an MB and video documenting their work. They’ve published the first of four parts. Here’s the story behind the jeep:
“My parents have a summer cottage in Northern Wisconsin. Our neighbors, who have passed away with the daughter living there now, had an old MB jeep. It was painted violet because at the time Janet’s dad asked her what color he should paint it as a little girl.
The jeep sat in her garage for years and each time we went to visit we tried to get her started. The mice had made it their home, eating all the electrical wires. The radiator leaked, brakes and clutch did not function and we realized we never had enough time to truly spend on getting her running whenever we visited. We asked for permission to bring her back to our garage in Wisconsin, fix her up and return her to Janet.
Janet’s dad served in WWII in the Army and I know he would be proud to see Janet driving his jeep today.”
That’s a bad day.

Another Safari-Kar conversion!
“Good running 1974 Jeep DJ-5 258-I6, 2wd, RWD, automatic, new Raceline Wheels and Goodyear tires, recent tune up & wires, AMSOIL oil, new radiator & cooling system flushed, new brakes, new mirrors, newer shocks, has roll cage w/bimini top, hi back bucket seats, front & rear tow hooks, spare tire carrier w/spare tire, new gauges (fuel gauge not hooked up), wipers not hooked up.
This was professionally converted from ex-postal jeep by Safari-Kar to left hand drive back in the day by a California company. Has some rust from being in CA back in the day but just in the usual fender spots. I have a rear seat bracket, and the original directional steel aftermarket wheels that goes with.
Many new parts:
– plugs, points, cap, rotor, wires
– rubber brake lines, wheel cylinders
– shocks
– Goodyear tires
– Raceline wheels
– oil, water, pressure, fuel gauges
– front turn & parking lights
Asking $2950 obo, too many toys and unfortunately this one has to go!
Its just a fun runaround in Jeep or get you down a dirt road or two. Its not a New Jeep so don’t waste my time wanting it to be!”
The price is listed as “$9”, so I assume that means $9000. This might have been changed to 2WD.

(10/19/2018) “Its finally time to let this one go. I’ve owned it for 7 years. The body is in excellent condition. It drives and runs great. I have a top to go with it also. This Jeep has had the 2.0 engine conversion put into it prior to my purchase. All the axles, transmission and transfer case is original.”

(10/24/2018) This appears to have some dents and dings, but looks pretty stock and solid. It’s supposed to have lockers.
