This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. My newest cutting board arrived today, thanks to an eWillys reader named Tom Gallagher. His boards earned a great write-up in the National Barbecue news a few years ago. He carefully selects the wood and makes each one himself.

This has drive train upgrades. It also had a later model jeep rim as an air filter cover. It looks like the rear ends of the body have been lengthened, yielding a slightly different body lines along the rear bottom of the jeep.

The Truck ad is from the September 8, 1955, issue of the Heppner Gazette-Times, while the wagon is from the October 27, 1955, issue. I guess the 1955 fall advertising theme was “All-Purpose”.

Runs good but hasn’t been started in a couple of years. The old balloon tires still hold air! “Looking to trade my 1953 CJ3B. It has a 283 V8 with a 2 spd powerglide transmission. I do have the 4wd tranny that came with it and the front driveshaft. Was tagged and inspected last year but have not redone it since putting the auto transmission in. It still needs some tinkering with the linkage to be completely ready. It has a little trouble shifting into park. Starts drives and stops. Could use a tune up. It will need a little patchwork done around the shifter. I also have a brand new soft top and doors that have never been installed. Would like to trade for and older car or truck or a rat rod. Doesn’t have to be completely finished I don’t mind doing a little work on something that catches my eye. Clear title in my name.”

“For sale or trade. 1953 Willys CJ3B in great condition. Seats were recovered 2 summers ago, amazing shape for this year jeep. Needs a cylinder head, it leaks coolant into the exhaust and smokes. No coolant in the oil. Any other questions just ask. No other issues, drives nice down the road. No bondo anywhere on this jeep, come see for yourself. Won’t be disappointed. I hate to get rid of it but need a pick up truck for work. Looking to trade for a nice standard cab Chevy long box truck in good condition 2wd or 4wd. Asking $4,500 cash.
