Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Steel top for Willys CJ2A Jeep. Koenig. Includes both doors — with working roll-up windows!– and roof rack. Said to have come new on 1948 CJ2A from the dealer. I’ve had it on my 1946 CJ2A. Great condition. All glass clear but there is a crack in the passenger side door and in the passenger side window of cab (see photos). “1950 willys Jeep CJ-3A has been fully restored, runs, drives, stops excellently and is ready to hit the road, trails, parade, car show, or WW3. The highly sought after go devil engine runs strong and starts first turn. 3 speed manual transmission functions as it should with no hesitation as does 4×4 high and low.
While in Canada last summer, Luciano, a videographer from Brazil, joined us for a few days. His task was to interview and record Hugo’s journey. His footage has yet to be released publicly, though he did send me a few clips for the presentation at the Willys Reunion. I decided to take some screen shots and share them. Canada can make you feel pretty small, pretty quickly!
Luciano started the drone close, then backed it way, way into the sky.

“1948 Willys Pickup, Near perfect frame off restoration. L134 Flathead engine. Runs very strong. Four wheel drive fully functioning. I bought this truck roughly 10 years ago as a restoration project. It got out of hand and I went overboard. I used it for a sail chartering business that I have since sold. Not sure of the miles on the engine as the original gauges did not work. I have a lot of extra parts, leaf springs gaskets etc”

This appeared to be sold earlier this year. It looks like it’s been freshened up a bit.
“1963 Willys Jeep FC170 – 4×4, former Fire Dept support truck from Pennsylvania, dealer installed Stahl Utility Body with keys to all the locks, low miles, original and stock condition including front wheel fiberglass flares and big old amber roof beacon. NEW: oil pump, new carb, gas tank flushed with new filler neck hoses, full ignition tune-up, new clutch assembly, new master cylinder & brakes & copper-nickle brake lines, new tires & alignment, new battery, headlights and brake lights work, seats just professionally reupholstered, starts right up, runs, drives, and stops. Still needs: vacuum wipers and turn signals don’t work, shifter is sloppy, makes some noise in first gear, needs door weatherstripping. Has some rust around inside of windshield, the bottom of one box, spots on doors, minor on bottom behind seats but front & rear cab corners are good, passenger door window is cracked but complete and operates fine, windshield is cloudy around the edges. No title, Maine doesn’t issue titles before 1995. I have previous registrations. Some spare parts included. Too many projects, time for someone else to take it to the next level. $7500 or best reasonable offer. This is a 55 year old project truck. If you’re idea of an old jeep is a YJ Wrangler this isn’t the project for you. I’m happy to answer any reasonable questions but do some research before contacting me and don’t make a crazy-low offer. This isn’t a reality TV show. ”

“1947 Willys CJ2a customized Jeep. Built as a offroad toy and fun cruiser. Only offroaded once so far. Full frame off build. 1947 custom steel body on 1979 CJ5 chassis. Modified/lifted suspension, 35″ tires. 4.2L inline 6. T-18 4 speed with 6.32:1 granny gear. Dana 20 transfer case. Dana 30 wide trac front with locker, Ford 9″ posi rear 3:54 ratio. Manual wilwood brakes, power steering. Monsta-liner coating on interior and exterior. Many custom modifications. Can send overall build summary and more pics upon request. $10,500 obo. “Willy’s has a CJ5 V6 Dauntless motor, CJ5 rear end and CJ5 steering, most everything else is original. It’s runs and drives and is currently on the road. I have all the paperwork and receipts of all work that has been done to it since decommissioning from the Army in 1970 in California. No rush to sell so serious inquirers only.
