Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For Sale: MB Jeep with original rebuilt engine, T-84 transmission, and MB axles. The frame, body and all accessories are reproduction parts. 12 volt system with alternator. Complete windshield is included, although not shown in photo. $23,000.

This photo from 1977 shows some postal jeeps that were caught in a July flood. This was featured on the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum site.
“Postal inspectors were deployed to western Pennsylvania following a devastating flood, which was caused by a massive thunderstorm on July 19-20, 1977. These jeeps, swept away by the enormous force of the floodwaters, were recovered half a mile from the Windber Post Office.”

Rare DJ-5 non-mail jeep. Needs a little body work on the driver’s fender, but otherwise this looks like a rare find in good shape. This is a former US Army vehicle (no pic of a Gov plate).
