Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a 1948 Willys Jeep cj2a for sale. I have done a frame off restoration. The jeep has a new tub, original fenders, new hood, tailgate, exhaust, carb, exhaust manifold and wiring and much more. This jeep is still a 6 volt system with all new gages and everything works. It has the military tires all five and is painted black under coating thru out. It does need for the drive train to be sealed just from sitting so long which I have and the emergency brake and cable to be installed which I have all the parts. It had approx. 62,000 when I got it and runs great. It has been kept inside a shipping container. I will include pictures soon but if you like to see it please call.”

Runs, but needs rust repair.
“1952 Willys Pickup. Good running condition (tagged). Clear title in hand. Three speed manual transmission, plus overdrive, 4 wheel drive and high low range shifters. Body needs a lot of rust repair (see pictures). Great project that can be driven while you repair the body. Tires hold air but have sidewall cracks. $3,000 OBO. I have a 1942 WWII Willys MB for sale in Alexander City, AL. I have a two and a half year rebuilt motor. It’s a late 40s or early 50s jeep flate head L-134 motor. It’s about 75 to 80 percent complete project. Everything but body so far has been painted lusterless OD green. Here is a list of what I have done to it.
-new brake lines
-new wheel cylinders
-new master cylinder
-new brake pads
-new body kit from the Philippines (includes tub, windshield screen, fenders, hood, top bow, window seals, and grille)
-new front bumper with frame gussets to bumper
-new rear cross member
-Korean style pintle hook
-fully rebuilt L-134 from late 40’s early 50’s (motor mounts facing in opposite directions so I had to modify the frame mount brackets to fit) Hasn’t been cranked in a few years since the Mechanic did it in front of me.
-6 volt system
-rebuilt generator

Willys Truck:
This one was in the Kaiser Willys 2016 Calendar. Colin reports the owner says there is over 100 grand in it!
1950 Jeepster:
The 50 Jeepster is a nice car with an older restoration, F-4 cylinder without overdrive.
1953 Kaiser Willys Aero:
The Willys Aero is a 53 with F-head 6 and overdrive. This sold for $13,500.

Original Post (03/19/.2011) Greg’s found these image at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, Australia. A little more research yielded a few stories and additional pics at the Australians-at-War website. You can see other Jeeps on rails used in Australia at G503.com.
