Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Newspaper Ads in 1965 & 1966 championed the CJs and the V-6 power plant, calling it The Flying Jeep. This first article was published on August 21, 1965, in The Evening Independent.
The Toledo Blade published an article two days after the one above, noted that Kaiser Jeep faced a new competitor, the Ford Bronco:
This ad was published in a variety of newspapers. This particular one appeared October 12, 1966, in the Southeast Missourian.

“I have a 1948 Willys cj2a “lefty” up for sale. Very rare. Only a hand full were made with the spare tire on the left side of the jeep. Has the L head 4cyl, runs good, drives good, all of the brakes are brand new, lines and all, front brakes have been converted to cj7 disc brakes.
Brand new set of super swamper tsl’s.
The floor pans were replaced about 10 years ago so there is no rust in the floorboards. But for some reason when they put the new floors in the did not cut the old floors out, so it you look under the jeep you can the old metal.
Has a 3000lb winch, has a heater, and also has a bestop soft top and doors that are about 3 years old. So she’s good to drive in the winter. The heater will burn you completly out if you let it.
Needs minor little things. It could use a new tie rod to the pitman arm,( there’s some slack in the steering)
Not a very good paint job on it.
And it smokes out of the tail pipe alittle bit until it warms up. Other than. It is an absolute BA piece of history with lots of life left, and it extremely fun to drive. Would make an awesome restoration, but heck it’s still awesome if you like the rugged history look.”

(03/29/2015) Has some unusual customizations. The Dash and windshield are both altered.
“Facts: Engine – Chevrolet 350, 3 speed w/ overdrive, winch, air compressor, 28 gallon gas tank, micro lock brake system, power steering, radio/c.b., 2.5″ body lift, 33″ tires, custom paint job. Custom everything around ever corner of the Jeep.
The gentleman whom I bought this Jeep from a year ago really did a fantastic job. He stripped it down and rebuilt it part by part while fabricating along the way. He was a true craftsman. It’s a head turner and random people will be asking you questions or giving you thumbs up on every drive you take. The straight pipes really sound amazing. Why am I selling it? There is too much going on in my life at the moment and I simplifying a bit.

(10/02/2016) Has an f-head. The cammo wrap nearly hides the hood’s head bump.

Three engines, axles, transmissions. transfer cases, window glass,seats. wheels, dashboard, trim, doors, bumpers, drive shafts, hydraulic dump unit, air cleaners, fenders, hoods. Rolling chassis 1953 Willys pickup: sandblasted and painted, complete new brake system, good running 134 engine, transmission, transfer case, PTO in good working order, bed 80% restored, cab 30% restored, good Ohio title.
