Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I believe that this is a 52 or 53. I have no title only bill of sale. I originally bought this to restore but have gone another route. This is mostly all there, the two side windows on the top are missing, easy to get. The windshield, doors and rear glass is all there and in good condition. I believe that this top will fit most of the CJ5s There is surface rust on the inside of the doors, the floorpan on the drivers side is rusty but there. The passanger side needs to be replaced.
It has the rearends, transmission, transfer case and has the adapter plate still on it for a 350 Chev.
It has been sitting for a number of years on a farm so of course it is rusty, but restorable or use for parts. Has the Ross steering conversion which is nice. missing the speedo. The sheetmetal is not all beat to heck and gone but in pretty good shape overall.
I was thinking of just parting this out but don’t haave the time (or effort)…I would like to get 900 for it but am open to reasonable offers. Might take a trade . Maybe a jeep or pickup truck.

This year’s FC Get Together has a new location, moving from Tacoma to Olympia.
Hmm … wonder if he delivered any Wurlitzers in this? This article was published in the January 1958 issue of Willys News.
Appears to have a replacement body.

“Rare, virtually all original, unmodified 1947 CJ2a. “Go Devil” L-head (L134) motor & non synchro T-90 manual transmission (double clutch shift). 35-40 mph max speed.
Drives like a 70 year old jeep!
Original 16″ Willys steel wheels powder coated satin black, military tires with tubes. Odometer reads just over 400 miles since restoration. 12v upgrade. Optima battery. Always garaged.
Also has newer black best top with doors and back bench seat reupholstered at the Top Shop in Eugene. Has windshield tie down strap. Registered as a historic vehicle.”

“1942 willys mb complete frame off rebuild. this is a turn key vehicle that is built right and needs zero work. new 231 odd fire v-6, headers, walker exhaust, 65 lb fly wheel, new Rochester carburetor with electric choke, HEI ignition, new starter, alternator, fuel and water pump. new aluminum radiator, gates belts and hoses, new clutch, up graded rebuilt t-90 transmission, rebuilt d-18 transfer case, up graded rebuilt d-44 rear end. 4-27 ratio. up graded d-27 front end with cardan cross axles, bearings and seals.up graded to 10′ brakes with all new shoes, hoses, lines and cylinders. Dual master cylinder, all new bushings, new windshield glass, new seats, completely rewired, OD green #41 paint, reinforced frame, body, hood and bumper. New interstate battery with disconnect. Sealed dual tanks with individual sending units, full roll cage, locking hubs, new Mickey Thompson mtz tires, new seat belts, rebuilt drive shafts, fully undercoated. clear title with pink slip. serious inquiries only. cash, no trades. this is basically a new jeep with zero miles on it since rebuild.”
