Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. A potential buyer was looking for some feedback on this one. I’ve sent them mine. My biggest issue was those front frame rails. they’ve been extensively patched.
“Here is a nice Jeep from World War 2. GPW engine, T90 transmission, with original front/rear axles. Nice straight body, but to be honest, unsure if original or reproduction?? All the holes on the tub have been welded up, which reproductions come un-drilled if I am correct?? Has 5 combats with new tires, tubes, and flaps. REAL NICE Jeep for the money. This August 1961 Jeep Family brochure called “You Can’t Hide from the Fact” featured a hippo trying to hide behind a small tree. It’s not clear to me why they used all the cutesy animal references during this time period. This is Form No. DM61-08.
UPDATE: Tim wrote me to say he’d found some of these sitting unused outside his place of employment. Unfortunately, there was too little left of them or they were too far gone to restore. The ones they had were powered by Wisconsin air-cooled V4 engines. They also had stainless steel tanks for liquid usage. He was able to take photos of a complete one before they disassembled it. The company that made that sprayer still exists. http://buffaloturbine.com/ The sprayers look very similar too.

“I have a 1948 Willys Jeep cj2a for sale. I have done a frame off restoration. The jeep has a new tub, original fenders, new hood, tailgate, exhaust, carb, exhaust manifold and wiring and much more. This jeep is still a 6 volt system with all new gages and everything works. It has the military tires all five and is painted black under coating thru out. It does need for the drive train to be sealed just from sitting so long which I have and the emergency brake and cable to be installed which I have all the parts. It had approx. 62,000 when I got it and runs great. It has been kept inside a shipping container. I will include pictures soon but if you like to see it please call.”

Runs, but needs rust repair.
“1952 Willys Pickup. Good running condition (tagged). Clear title in hand. Three speed manual transmission, plus overdrive, 4 wheel drive and high low range shifters. Body needs a lot of rust repair (see pictures). Great project that can be driven while you repair the body. Tires hold air but have sidewall cracks. $3,000 OBO.
