Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is a barn find coming out of the Bakersfield area. Limited paper work. The car needs TLC and some one with auto skills. The car has been run very limited and seems to work in all areas. You will see extra parts on the car. This is not a total original car. Could also be a great parts car. New gas tank, starter on a 12 volt system, carb, fuel pump, and stuff. “
I suspect this is a 2A with a 3B tub. Looks like a battering ram on the front bumper!
“Selling my 48 Willy’s Jeep. Has allot of add on stuff. 6″lift, 36″swampers, 465 Chevrolet small block motor, 4 speed, Dana 44’s front and rear, I think transfer case is 456. Straight headers. Aluminum radiator. I traded my cousin for it for another jeep about 3-years ago. It just sits around now because I don’t have the time to enjoy it. He did allot of work to it and put allot of money into it. I just tack welded the brush guard on there, I was going to cut it out and move it back closer to the radiator but just never got around to it. The radiator has a small hole in it, stick got in there before I put the brush guard on there. Cheap fix. Im asking 3500. for it and I know there is allot more into it than that. Im interested in trading for a little Honda civic, accord, ford focus, corolla. I need something that’s good on gas. Text, email, or call. I don’t need help selling it either. thanks”

“46 willys running and driving . New master cylinder new brake shoes . Really needs wheel cylinders too. Runs good needs carb work and a head gasket . Has the wrong radiator in it that I put in just to run it. All the gauges work including speedometer. Tub is one of the better I’ve seen but is still going to need front floors. All the wiring is in good shape headlights and tail lights do work. Does not have the factory gas tank in it.”
At the very least it has a GPW body.

Don’t see many ‘big foot’ pedals used anymore.
“1972 constructed vehical 1972 flat fender type on a cj5 frame all aluminum tub, has a Buick 330 nail head motor v8 with a turbo transmission and a 205 transfer case. Has Chevy 1\2 ton axles under it runs and drives needs to have the drive line finished. Simply too many projects.
Has a bikini top and poly high back bucket seats.”

“1953 Willys-Overland Model MD (M38A1) Army Jeep For Sale.
Jeep was purchased in 2000, engine rebuilt in 2003 and garage stored since 2006. Originally planned for a restoration, as jeep had been converted to 12-volt electrical prior to purchase. Military version of venerable F-Head engine was professionally rebuilt in 2003 with hardened valve seals for today’s unleaded gasoline and rebuilt military carburetor. The dual-pane windshield is intact without cracks and body is solid (though previous owner tack-welded a sheet of metal on the rear floor of body tub). Extra parts come with the jeep, including various 24-volt electrical system parts (generator, starter, voltage regulator), Top-bow for roof, various small parts including extra mechanical fuel/vacuum pump, jerry can and spare tire mounts.
*** This Jeep is currenly not running and sitting on wheel dollies (which come with the jeep). It will need to be moved by trailer or towed, and a floor jack will be required to move it off the wheel dollies.”

(10/092013) It runs, but has rust.
“I have for sale a 1960 DJ3A willys jeep. The engine runs good, the transmission and transfer case work, the numbers on the data plate, frame and title all match. It has been converted to four wheel drive. The floor boards have rust through. The brakes do not work.”

“For sale a 1962 USMC M170 long wheel base. This a USMC Barstow ambulance/radio jeep thats in good condition with no rust. Runs and drives. New military jeep tires and wheels along with a new spare tire carrier and gerry can holder. New complete original stock muffler system. New speedometer and cable. New oil pressure line and gauge. New battery. All fluids have been replaced. Brakes are good and steering is good too. Prior owner rebuilt the engine.”

This 1942 GPW was listed for $500 in May of 2012 in Azusa, California. It was quickly purchased and sent to England where Chris got a hold of it and transformed it back into an original looking GPW. An antiques dealer in old garden classics, he seems to know a few things about old jeeps, too. He’s forwarded some photos so we can see the before and after pics.
Chris was wondering if anyone was familiar with the 51st Defense Battalion? I found this link and this link, but if anyone has additional information, he’d like to know more.
