“This is a 1950 Willys M38 Jeep all original with 24v system starts
Has some issues call if interested.”
The DJ-3As guys were exchanging emails the other day about a little known change in headlight and parking light bezels and housings during its production run. I’ve organized the information they sent and found additional information online. Hopefully, I got everything correct.
For the DJ-3A, the parking light and headlight changes occurred in 1959, with the DJ-3A switching from the 2A/3A headlight and parking lights to the later model parts. Other models (CJ-3Bs, trucks, CJ-5/6s, and wagons) had their parking lights changed in 1956.
HEADLIGHTS BEZELS:
From 1955 to UP TO 56337-15802 in 1959 the DJ-3A used the same headlight bezels as the CJ-2A/CJ-3A. Some people call these the flat bezels and the later models bug eyes.

The way the headlight bezels mount is also different:

PARKING LIGHTS AND LENS CHANGES:

The parking light housing was also different. The early housing mounted with horizontal holes, while the later housing mounted using vertical holes. The CJ-3B sites explains the differences.
UPDATE: Anyone know anything about these jeeps? Tony has one and wanted to get some more information about it.
This gold-plated CJ-5 sold on eBay in 2013.
“THE ULTIMATE JEEP TOY COLLECTORS FIND. THIS GOLD PLATED JEEP TOY I AM TOLD WAS MADE FOR THE WILLYS OVERLAND EXECUTIVES WHEN THEY RETIRED. VERY RARE AND SCARCE. IT IS MADE OF A HEAVY CAST METAL , IS 6″ LONG 2.5″ WIDE . VERY COOL AND VERY CLEAN. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS IT IS ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE , THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUMPER IS BROKEN OFF (THIS IS QUITE TYPICAL ON THESE) AND THE WIND SHIELD WILL FOLD ALL THE WAY BACK AS SEEN IN THE PICS. IT WILL ALSO STAY IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, WILL DISPLAY VERY NICELY.ALSO HAS ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $15,000.
Looks in good shape.
“or sale. 1954 CJ3B Jeep. Nice condition. Brake system recently rebuilt-new lines, drums, and master cylinder. Windshield frame seal replaced and new horn wiring. Many overhauled components and replaced parts. Little rust. Always hangered. Transmission shifts great, doesn’t pop out of gear. Hi/Low/2wd/4wd all work great.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9500.
Interesting steering wheel and shifter knob.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. Over $15,000 in restoration. Original flat head engine. New everything!”
Looks like a good price.
“Selling my 1947 CJ2A Willys Jeep.
It is in good condition with original motor and drive train. Everything is functional as runs it runs and drives. The body and frame are both in good shape. Wood make a great trail rig or hunting rig. I have switched directions a bit and while I hate to sell it, I need the space.
I have a clear title in hand.”
This looks like a good price.

“Using almost as a daily driver for my 15 mile one way commute. Very fun to drive and many original features that make this Willy’s Jeep unique.
Original floor mats, original seat belts, original seats (upgraded option from the Tuxedo line), original wipers (most Jeeps were replaced with aftermarket motors), and I even have the original cardboard glove box (but it was replaced with a plastic box).
The tub floor boards have been patched over the years. The CJ-5 tool box floor was patched and holds tools.
Includes a BestTop with doors and panels – all in great condition.
This is a great fun Jeep to drive with the rock solid original Willy’s 4 flat head with strong consistent oil pressure. 4×4 works too. Continue reading
