McCahill’s Review of the Jeep Wagoneer

In a comment from the post about the FC-150 review by Tom McCahill, Mike remembered seeing McCahill’s review about the Jeep Wagoneer. It didn’t take me long to find a cheap copy of the May 1966 issue (pg 87) that featured the surprisingly enthusiastic review of the Jeep.

1957 Truck Oklahoma City, OK **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $6000. **Status Unknown**

Here’s a truck updated with a diesel.

FOR SALE. 1957 Jeep Pickup Willys. Very Clean on top underneath. All over. It has been inside stored for the last ten years. And…. It’s a diesel.!! It has a six cylinder Nissan diesel. I’m not sure what it came out of but it runs really well. It is a 4 speed standard with first gear very low compound range. The 4 wheel drives work too. Warn hubs. The bed is clean.

Looks like the Jeep driven on Mountain Men show.
Asking $6,000. Current tag. Title in our name. We have owned it for the last ten years.
It has a button for the glow plugs. I’ll investigate why it is not working. Currently you have to shoot a bit of starting fluid to get it to fire off. Runs great after that though.”

1964 FC-170 Flanagan, IL $28,000

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE Price dropped to $28,000.

Up for auction is a very rare (1 of 1,119) 1964 Kaiser Jeep Forward Control 170 3/4 ton pickup truck. 1964 was the last year of production for the FC-170 and the end of the Kaiser/Jeep era. This could be your only chance to ever buy a fully restored FC-170, no kidding they are that rare.

This Jeep was fully restored by a professional shop in 2010, not some father son project in a back yard. The attention to detail speaks to this fact. Since restoration the Jeep has accumulated approximately 1000 proven miles.

The Jeep was restored to original with a few modern upgrades. The seats are a bucket type that are fully adjustable. Custom 33 gallon fuel tank with stainless steel filler neck. Custom made rear bumper with built in LED tail lights. LED side marker lights. Two storage lids were fabricated behind the seats to cover the battery and a storage area. Engine will run on unleaded fuel.

The teal green is the original color as is the white grill and white wheels. An additional pin stripe was added around the white accent.

The front winch bumper was most likely a dealer add on. It has a Ramsey 8000 lbs PTO driven winch with 50′ of cable.

Engine and transmission were fully rebuilt and hardened valve seats were added to the engine so unleaded fuel can be used.
