About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
It’s got some parts, but hard to say just how much value there is.

UPDATE: The status of Gobex is unknown. Their website is no longer active.
Here’s a couple unusual fiberglass, rear engine powered jeeps sold by a South African company called Gobex. These are updated versions of the VEEP. This might make a fun, different, race jeep body. The exchange rate between the US dollar and the South African Rand is approx $100 – R863, so the CJ2 Jade Jeep Kit costs R14,615 or $1697.68.
“MISSION: To become the leading provider of beach buggies, both long wheel base and short wheel base units. We manufacture the popular CJ2 and CJ6 replica Jeeps. The Company started in 1983 as Steve’s buggies on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal South-Africa. Over the years, as part of ongoing researh and development, a number of products have been refined and manufactured.”
John Vahey, from R&P 4WD, and I have been exchanging emails ever since the company started advertising on eWillys. We finally got a chance to meet at Brian’s in Kennewick a couple days ago. John wanted to share with me R&Ps cool new Dual Master Kit for vintage jeeps. To help promote its launch, R&P will be donating the kit as part of a contest eWillys will be holding next month. I’ll describe more about the contest later and will be announcing the winner at the Willys Spring Reunion in May (you won’t have to be at the reunion to win).
One of the slick parts about this system is the simple way it mounts. You actually use the bracket itself as a template using the clutch bar (see pics below). If you want to learn more, you can contact R&P at 503-557-8911 or through its contact page.
Brian mounted the kit and recorded his experience yesterday. He posted pictures and a review at his facebook group, Jeep Thing. Here is his review:
John said it would take about 4 hours. To the average guy, in his driveway, this job will take 4 hrs. The best part was the engineering and attention to detail, oh and the great directions. Hell the entire thing is great. NO frustration factor! This thing is a pleasure to install and looks very clean. R & P hit this one out of the park!”
Here the pictures Brian took of the mounting process. He is testing this out on his M-38A1 project.

Brian removed the outer plate.
Note how the bracket uses the clutch bar to line up the bracket in the proper place for drilling.
This is the most jeep looking golf car I’ve seen. They usually don’t sit so high.

“Fully restored 1946 Willys CJ2A. Engine, gearbox, tranfer case all restored by professional shops. Frame/body paint/electrical by owner. Harvest Tan, correct color for 1946. Luzon Red wheels. Overdrive added when restored for better highway drivability. 5 new Firestone vintage truck knobby tires, has period turn signals and period heater installed. Under restoration 2000–2006, about 1000 miles on it since restoration. Located near Levenworth Kansas, can be seen by appointment.”
This needs some work, but looks like a good price.
“1947 Willys CJ2A
Ford V-6, C-4 automatic transmission, rear dana 44, front dana 30, front and rear posi 31″ TSL thornbirds, power steering, 4 wheel power disk brakes, tilt column, air compressor, welder, spring over, custom windshield, bikini top, full top with full doors.
This Jeep needs some TLC, not a basket case by any means, but does need a little work.
$4000 OBO May be interested in a trade.”
“Jeep is a great shape and has been taken good care of. It has 35,000 original miles. has new top and 6 ply tires. It even has the rear seat which is very rare.”
This looks solid, but I think the paint needs a closer look. It appears uneven just under the driver’s side mirror.
“This Jeep was part of a motor pool at an air museum for 20 years as a flight line/follow me Jeep. Go Devil motor runs great. No rust. ALL gauges and lights work as they should. Running on 12 volt, converted from 24 volt.
Great driver (a real head turner) as is, or an easy full restore.
$9,800. No trades. Will store until snow melts.”
This runs, but needs some work and isn’t entirely stock.
“This is an April 1942 Ford script GPW jeep. This is a good vehicle to enjoy as is, for reenactors, or do a Restoration on. I bought it as I just wanted something to drive instead of rip apart and never be able to finish. Makes a good combat class looking vehicle. The engine is out of a 1949 CJ 2. The transmission is still the original t84 and bell housing when I looked underneath still has a big ford script. The data plates are the original data plates delivered April 1942. The frame number matches the data plates. This has a clear clean Colorado title. The Jeep has been converted to 12 V charging system. All the gauges except fuel gauge work, even speedometer works. Included with the auction Ari set of original gauges that just have not been put in yet. Read more on eBay.”
