Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Rear axle is a Dana 60 full float from a 1974 1 ton Dodge pickup attached using original springs. It has been converted to run on propane with 2 aluminum 10 gallon tanks.”

“1951 Jeep Willys, military version, original four-cylinder engine, has not been started in a number of years but spins free. No title only a bill of sale. Awesome jeep was used on ranch for years. All the mods are downdraft instead of sidedraft carburetor and aftermarket wheels and tires. I have the original wheels with old tires on them.”

“I have a 48 Willis jeep that is about 90% restored. It has the 134 GoDevil engine, military tires, new tube, new leaf springs and perch, rebuilt front Axle knuckles, new front axle shafts, new gages, new 6 volt wiring. Must see to appreciate. Can send pictures upon request.”

“I have a 1949 CJ3A Jeep for sale. It runs and drives, has a blue bonded title. I got the parts to start the brakes, but haven’t installed them yet. It’s not a rust bucket and would be fine on a ranch as-is, but it needs work. It would be a fun project for someone who has the room and the mechanical ability for a do it yourself project. I had hoped to have the race jeep all done by now so I could take it to the Moonshiner’s payday in Glenwood, but not this year. The priority shifted to Ann’s garden. She’s been such a big supporter of my jeep craziness over the years, that building her this garden was the least I could do. Now that the weather has cooled back down to normal temps, I should have the trip work around the pagoda and boxes done in the next couple of days.
The other thing that has slowed things down has been some weird health glitches. Hopefully, we have those issues under control and that won’t slow me down (for a while anyway).
Yesterday I finished up the seat mounts and the seat belt mounts on the racer. Next, the overhead dashboard needs finishing, but that is nearly done. After that, the side bars need mounting and the mud flaps setup. After that, the body and hood mounts need to be added. There are a few places that need some cleaning (read grinding) on the chassis, but otherwise it should be ready to clean and paint. So, almost there …
