This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1600. It’s confirmed that this isn’t a Traveler.
Listed as a 1949, the seller believes this to a be a Traveler, but it’s obviously made too early to be that.

Maury shared this video from AMC Jeep. I was 18 when this came out in 1983. I’m sure I must have seen this on TV and I hazily remember the folks riding a bison, but don’t remember the full commercial.

“1950 Willys CJ3A, $15,000. 59,557 miles, Fiberglass body with Scorpion liner exterior coating. Won’t rust or scratch. 1550 miles since the engine was rebuilt. Rebuild included new crankshaft, main and rod bearings, bored cylinders, new pistons and rings, milled head, ground and reseated vales. Items added or replaced: Wipers, seats, heater, battery, electronic ignition, alternator, starter, ring gear, fuel and voltage gauges, ignition switch, headlight switch, clutch, brake master cylinder, shoes and drums, front wheel seals, front transmission seal, dash light, front turn signals, factory rebuilt carburetor, throttle and pedal linkage, fuel pump, tires, 6,000 # winch, hood latches, exhaust, full Bestop and custom made bikini top. Roger Martin shared this ad for an original Ford GP Pintle hook, but I haven’t followed prices on these to know if this is a good one or not. (You can get repro versions on eBay for $175)

UPDATE: As Lee points out, this has the wrong gauge cluster for a 59. Either the year is off or the body is a replacement or something else.

“Selling my 1948 Willys CJ2A, or would consider a trade for a Rolex Submariner. 12 bolt conversion done. Have clear title. Runs and drives amazing. Body is average, but then again, when you’re 75 years old….. Recently spent over $6k on making sure she runs good and stops good. Didn’t spend the time to make sure a “larger” guy like myself could fit in her and go off-roading. (It’s tough for a fat guy to drive a rig when neither the seat nor the steering wheel move)”
