1946 CJ – MB Theme Custom Pickup Body $19,800 Morton Grove, Il

Peter sent over this pretty neat Willys Jeep looks like an early CJ with a classic MB theme and paint scheme along with a custom back half truck bed made from a Bantam trailer. IMO which always changes based on lots of more experienced folks helping out not for the 100PT stock club this looks like it is a fully custom rig. But a pretty useful rig and could be a fun truck to gather a crowd around and talk Jeep with at the end of the Parade. The extra 2 feet out back can hold some stuff for sure. I like that’s its different and that it has a lot of accessories to fit the theme of this one. If you are interested in looking this over and adding a unique driver to your fleet please contact Peter.

Doing some research on this one the one site has this listed as 42680 as the SN so it puts it solid into 1946. Going by the information on the great CJ2A page it’s really a few hundred from the middle of the serial numbers listed for 1946 coming in just under midway.

1955-1962 Willys Pickup $15,000 OBO Prospect, CT
Guessing a self proclaimed Willys Salad, but if the list holds up you can not build it for this asking price, even if it needs a few things sorted out. The body looks to need some adjusting, could be a simple fix of the cab springs and some leveling, or if brackets were installed a deeper project to rework to a straight position. My Wagon needs a suspension upgrade so not picking on it, I wil get to mine but it’s a driver as this looks so I have it on the list. I do agree with Andy, nice truck with extra parts – Tim

Information from seller:

I have owned this for 30 plus years. It’s time to move on. I had the motor completely reconditioned three years ago. The carb is always under construction. It runs and drives but needs time and attention l can nolonger provide. My price is less than the motor rebuild so don’t try too hard to beat me down. I could store it and hope l can get to it but selling seems better. Body is solid except under the running panel. See you on the trails or roads. I was always a familiar sight.

1953 Willys Panel Delivery Wagon $2,000  Toronto, KS

This is a really neat Wagon Body not so much for what it is because the frame looks to be missing, but for the connection to what it most likely was part of, it’s a small piece of Eureka, KS past. Anyone local from the area probably knows a lot more, but at the end is what I was able to dig up. – I hope you enjoy the ride on this one- Tim

nice patina on a delivery

Information from seller:

This really cool panel could be yours. 1953 Willys jeep. This truck only has rust in two spots in the floor pan. The entire rest of it is rust free. Tons of extra parts including interior and body parts . It’s currently on a k5 blazer frame. No MOTOR OR TRANSFER CASE . No low ballers. If your looking at this then you know what it is and you know it’s a fair price. I’m not responding to the is it available crap so don’t ask. My buddy said if no one is interested that I can build it. I really want to build it because it will sit on a toyota frame and all of a sudden I kinda wanna keep it. However I said I would post it before I learned that so here it is. If interested I have a running willys four cylinder motor that was converted into an air compressor that I would throw in for an extra $500. $2000 cash firm no trades. $2300 with motor

Back Story on what I think is part of the history of this Wagon and what it was part of……

This delivery is a small bit of Eureka, KS history with coming from a long standing business with deep roots in the area, it was quite the Rabbit hole that Andy sent me down, but it was interesting to go back in time for what this Wagon was part of.

I was able to dig up quite a bit on the Brookover Grocery our of Eureka, KS. It was run and owned by Harrison Brookover and his family for a long time. Prior to being a Grocery it was a Service station that was originally founded as a Co-Op which I found an interesting article on the set up and history of that set up.

Here are some ads for the store…

In 1964 the Grocery was sold…..

Early Beginnings………..

Prior to the Grocery the place was a Service Station.

Overall the Service Station construction was started in July 1926 and completed and opened in August of 1926, it carried Dunlop Tires, Sinclair Gasoline, and 100% Pennsylvania Oil “Penzene” and Quaker State.

EDIT…… UPDATE ORIGINAL PHOTO FOUND!!!

So here it is the Mid-West Oil Company!!! What a cool find for me anyway, this has to be from 1926 to 1929, it has it all in the photo, the lube rack, the visible pumps, the PENZENE sign. What a shot, and they listed it as “gasstation” probably could add some details to this Photo.

Comparing the original photo to Goolge Maps today I feel that the light could very well be the original fixture above the door, you can still see the original building outlline. You can see the holes for the adjacent lights above the windows.

June 25th 1929 the Co-Op was dissolved and it looks to have become the Brookover Oil Company……

There are mentions of a Highway reconfiguration in some articles around 1939/1940 Brookover Groceries starts to pop up with a large addition to the building dedicated to Groceries noted in Oct of 1940…..

This Photo shows exactly how it is written the addition to the EAST with the Windows facing south towards 2nd Street (right side of Photo)

A time long forgotten….

Harrison Brookover was also the Mayor of Eureka from April 1945 to April 1951 serving 6 years. He was also a long time supporter and Secretary of the Greenwood County Fair….

Pretty neat local history all off one faded sign on the side of a Willys Wagon!
