About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

(04/12/2011) It doesn’t run, but looks pretty stock (except for the engine as noted by Javier).
“JEEP: WILLYS 1953 Military Model M38A1 with clean AZ title. Jeep has M38 Military engine and original 24 volt electrical system. Engine does run — not currently running since vehicle has sat a long time. This jeep is a restoration / rebuild project. Nearly all original military parts intact. Extras included with Jeep: manuals, complete drum to drum front axle assembly, steering gear box, lights, data plates”
(02/15/2010) I guess this needs a little work done? It has an overdrive.
“The Jeep has a 1957 Chevy 283 V8 engine. It runs and sounds great. 3 speed manual trans with high/low transfer and overdrive. Has chrome valve covers and air cleaner cover. The tires are good and there are two spares. Its been under cover and for the most part is in pretty good condition. It has an electric fuel pump. I start it frequently. Battery is good. I’ve had it for 40 years, and have had many good times in it. The transmission needed rebuilding a few years ago, so I pulled the engine and replaced the damaged parts in the transmission. I got most of the project completed, but am no longer able to work on it. It will need some brake work and new mufflers, but for someone that is mechanically inclined, this is a very good chance to own a one of a kind Jeep. It doesn’t have a top. It has a tow bar and cover.”
The Chicago Auto Show website has an archive of images from past auto shows. Some of the pics include a variety of different jeeps. Some of these you have probably seen before and, hopefully, others you haven’t.
1960: I thought the description on the bottom of this photo claiming the CJ-6 link was interesting. I’m assuming the mistake was made by the person who assembled the auto show archives?
I found the advertisement below on Flickr. According to the information on Flickr,
this ad was for the 1960 Detroit Auto Show, but showed 1961 vehicles.
1961: The Hong Kong Exhibit (though I haven’t quite reconciled the 1961 show date from Bruce’s document).
1962: Here’s something from International Harvester.
“I have two projects that need to be gone asap.. One is a 1966 cj6 4×4 in pretty rough shape. no motor. have a lot of spare parts. started resto but lost interest and have no $$$$. The other is a 7×12 tandom axle flat bed trailer. also needs a little tlc but is a great trailer. air up a tire and pull it home. has break on axle but not hooked up. Like i said these are both projects but are well worth the time”
Steve spotted this ad. No pics provided, but the builder assembled the front from Bronco II and the rear from a F-250.
“This is a particular vehicle for a particular buyer. Former daily driver but has been sitting for the past two years.
This was hand built, and would suite a collector or restorer nicely. Registered as ’53 Willys but is in fact only the body sitting on two frame halves welded together. (front-Bronco II, rear F-250)
Ford big block engine: 460 (dual-plane intake manifold, 780 Edelbrock carb, roller rockers, ported heads, Hooker headers) approx 20k miles since rebuild; American Racing 17″ aluminum wheels; BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD tires (brand new but slightly weathered). Interior is very minimal, but does have a few original gauges and heater.
This has alot of sentimental value so finding a buyer who will appreciate it would be optimal.
Pics are available upon request for serious inquiries. ”
“1954 Willys CJ3B Project Vehicle. 90% Complete – 100% Disassembled. Frame painted and ready to reassemble. NOT A RUST BUCKET. (4) new bridgestone Duelers. Buick V6 ( dauntless ) with HEI conversion. 11″ rear drum brakes.Stainless steel headers. 2 stick transfer case. Couple of repair manuals included. Great project for someone with more time than myself. No title – Sold with a Bill of Sale. Has some history in the raceway community.
QUESTIONS ANSWERED ABOUT PRICE AND PHOTOS TO SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.”
“This vehicle is located in crow wing county about 6 miles southeast of Emily. Has been at the cabin for 20 years and obviously needs some work done, engine/clutch/tranny all work great though. I have the title and vin numbers, tabs are way out of date and there is no insurance so you will need a trailer. $1500 or make an offer, I would also consider a trade for a new or like new Minn Kota Bow mount 12v auto pilot trolling motor 55lb.”
UPDATE: Price now $3500. Note the front clip has been extended.
